Default My new addition to the Merk.

I Just scored a custom built radiator and intercooler for the ride. It can handle 30+ lbs of boost and will fit into the stock location with 0 modifications.

let me know if you wanted them welded to one another, would be much more reliable than bolting them together, but i don't know if they go in as one or one at a time. either way let me know

Let me make sure I understand this correctly..... The intercooler portion is the top part, and the radiator is the lower portion.

If thats how it works, thats a small ass intercooler.

Look at it. You can tell they're bolted together.

^^Why stick with tradition? Do it like the manufactors do and hide it. Not only is it space efficient, but you can mount a fan on it and cool the intercooler down some at idle instead of being heat soak.

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.

It seems to me like the intercooler would be very warm on top of the radiator (where all the heat rises to the IC) and having them physically connected would conduct heat. I would imagine a setup like this would only be implemented out of necessity. It does look like a well made piece however.

As far as doing things as the manufacturers did it, there are many factors that involve engineers/designers/R&D/accountants/execs which do not limit someone who is modifying a car to fit their taste/needs. According to the logic in the above post you have a warm intercooler via radiator conducting heat through it, and the answer to that is to mount a fan contributing weight and electric draw that will get the temps in the range of what a front/side mounted cooler would be seeing anyway?

Ruffian, not bashing your purchase just disagreeing with the logic (or lack of) above. Hope the car gets completed soon and post finished pics.

the thing that you guy's are missing is that it is a front mount. The intercooler is stacked on top of the radiator. The intercooler is catching nothing but cold air from in between the headlights Notice the big black air hole in between the lights on the Avitar^. this is how it mounts up.....

It's the new hotness for the XR4ti's. I plan on getting one for mine. But since the car isn't mainstream, the aftermarket parts don't get much attention.

Will work for food, car parts, or three stripe apparel. And not necessarily in that oder.

the main benefit of a traditional front mount is obviously getting the cool air before it passes through the radiator. yours will catch direct air like a traditional front mount, but will also heat soak off of the radiator any time you stop or are running slowly. it's not as bad as putting an intercooler behind the radiator, but won't work quite as well as putting it up in front either.
