Guess who "created" the cool spot to hang at in Sumter (Fu Garden parking lot) --- I did. I sat there in my yellow 03 Spec V ALONE for weeks and weeks & watched the cars go by - then my buddy AJ (red 3g Eclipse), then Tyrone (blown ITR), Dee (GSR Supercharged teal hatch) - Harry (silver Spec V), Isaiah Taylor (LS auto DC2) and other cats from the base when I was stationed there @ Shaw. 1 car turned to 2, 2 - 5, then it got outta hand. I hear that it's still the chill spot to this day - ha ha. I will 4ever be famous in that town. When I showed up in 01 w/ my bagged CB7 kats didn't know what hit 'em.Originally Posted by StuntallDay

We used to set up runs at Caterpillar (NOT a good idea) and get the cops called in to shut it down every week. Dee (worked at Power Audio) was the king in a teal EG hatch... GSR + JRSC + NX wet kit (BIG SHOT) back then - we were all chasing him.
Then there was a guy in Charleston named BJ (EG hatch) that was the fastest street import in the state... he'd shut down the track at Darlington and and also BOTI at Rockingham every year. I kinda miss "Dumpster, SC".
Last I heard BJ is still doing his thing in Charleston, but Dee moved on to bikes and parted out the EG --- that bites, it was nasty.

Yea, we hang out there quite a bit, and get kicked out on a regular basis..... Most of the time its just sonic with the ricers. But there are a handfull of clean imports in Sumter.
As a matter of fact, I have Iziah's car at my house now it should be running soon, its now a manual, built gsr and jrsc.
Fu Garden is ground zero for ricers BTW.Originally Posted by BABY J

haha sexy cars then my ugly mostly stock s14.
Well HOLY F*CK i need to call him up. It's been what - 3 - 4 years in the making? He started that project in 2004.... Tyrone (blown ITR, black) was building the motor on base back in 04 and doing the manual swap - but there was some issues that were keeping it from being done... 1 was Tyrone deploying overseas, and 2 I think he was just too busy to take it on in the time-frame that Ike wanted it done. Nice to know it's coming together finally. We spent many a day in my apt talking about that build... good guy.Originally Posted by s10cky
LOL about getting kicked outta the Garden - that RARELY happened back in 01 - 04 (I left in June 04), but doesn't surprise me 1 bit.
Well MY how times have changed... we ran the ricers off from there on the regular and kept it a clean spot. I started a team called "Team VELO" and outside of us, there were not many knuckleheads that we'd allow to congregate. Sad to hear that it's went downhill since then - but there were not many places to hang there on the strip.Originally Posted by RX8Dragon
For a hot second, we'd do the Lowe's lot - but that was usually just the meet spot b4 we caravaned out to Darlington to run
J'son. When you talk to Isaiah, or Dee - just say "Baby J" - back then I had a bagged Cb7 Accord, and a 03 Spec V (yellow). I was stationed there from 01 - 04, and I got out and moved to Colorado in JUne of 04.Originally Posted by RX8Dragon
LOL - yeah - for some reason tho, if u ever leave Sumter you will miss it for all the wrong reasons - lol. Gooci's was the spot --- still open?Originally Posted by RX8Dragon

Why does that 180 have a JDM plate in the rear? He better watch out because the CIA has there own division that specializes in looking for JDM cars on the street. They're gonna come to his house in the middle of the night and take his car away. If he gets pulled over, he'll have his car impounded and have to pay a fine of $83,943.48. As for that Skyline, I have seen it before it's just a GTS-t nothing special about it. It is not a Motorex car so no matter what state legalization process it's gone through it is not legal at all. He too will have has car taken by the CIA in the middle of the night and forced to pay a fine of $83,943.48. This is all true because my friends's dad's adopted sister's brother in-law's dentist had his RHD taken and crushed. So to all who own RHD cars beware.................
BTW that hatch is a piece of ****

yeah i remember baby j and dee and all back in the day. haha when i first started into the imports it was known not to mess with VELO. we need some sort of organization like it used to be, now its just full of rice. just us select few who keep it clean. sumters going JDM.
Skyline...RB Swap???
Man - pick about 5 or 6 good GUYS. Most teams (I call them teams, not CLUBS b/c me and my guys raced together --- but to each his own). Pick the PEOPLE - not the dudes w/ the hottest/fastest cars -- the import scene as a whole went south when it started being about the cars and not the people. As long as they have a vision for their ride --- then grab them -- even if it's under construction. Get a tight-knight bunch of guys, do some regular things --- build cars --- and it can be a better scene. Instead of shunning the new guys and green guys (I have been guilty of this before too) --- take them under your wing and try to show them how to mod tastefully, and not be a ricer in the Sumter Mall parking lot.Originally Posted by roborob
I went to the manager at Fu Garden once it started blowing up --- and I told them that me and my guys would come in there once a week and eat. They were VERY happy, and they had my "Serious Customs" business cards on the check-out counter. We kept the lot as clean (or cleaner) as we found it evertime - and they got a huge bill from 12 - 13 gusy running through their buffet every week. I did the same at Hibachi Grill joint down by the BLockbuster. I tried to organize (me and Isaiah were competitors --- DT Customs was moving a lot of parts there as well as my company Serious).... but we were also FRIENDS too... so there was no bad blood.
It doesn't always have to be the "kool" guys, and then "oh yeah - those OTHER guys are ricers." Reach out to those young kids if you have to man --- when I was coming up in the scene I had people that were older in the scene that I could talk to and bounce ideas off of --- but we seemed to have left these kids to fend for themselves --- and it's VERY apparent that they need some direction. I HATED those guys that were untouchable, and i ALMOST had that attitude once I built my Spec V and moved to CO. I found myself saying "go away" - not bc I thought I was the sh*t, but b/c I'd answered the "what's in the car/ who built it" question 100 times a weekend.
As long as the base is there, there will always be fresh faces coming into that town and that's kool bc you can put a nice team together - and then when they move on, they can take that logo and direction w/ them to their new spot.
ANYWAY --- enough w/ the novel. Nice cars guys, keep 'em clean.![]()
