    Toyota > Nissan

Having had a 2001 Tacoma, it gets my votes.

It's probably one of my previous vehicles that I miss the most.

I know someone with a frontier and it has been trouble-free.

If you have experience, post. Otherwise stop saying "Tacoma!" because you think the commercials are cool or because you "think" they're cool. That shit doesn't count.

    ok here goes:

my aunt has a tacoma and has over 200k miles on it and hasnt had a bit of trouble out of it.

my mom has a xterra (frontier frame, drivetrain, front end, etc) with 130k mileson it. my dad is a mechanic and regularly maintains and has already needed a 2 water pumps, new a/c compressor, alternator, battery and the rack makes noise at hwy speed.

I have a 06 Xterra Offroad, and my brother has a 08 Tacoma TRD. He has gotten stuck a few times already, where as I have yet to get stuck a single time. If I get in a tight spot, I flip the switch to my electronic locking diff and drive right through. The taco can't keep up with the xterra on road or offroad. My brother's truck gets stuck in wet grass. The frontier and xterra have about 20hp more than the tacoma. All in all, I think the tacoma looks better, but the nissan is a better performer on road and off road. My Xterra has 40k miles on it and still runs like new. I had considered trading my xterra in on a new frontier, but after my brother got his, I've changed my mind. I think the next thing I will get is either a frontier 4x4 or the new H3T. The H3T with the V8 has more power, but is only a 4 speed auto, weighs more, and gets worse fuel economy...

I say get a Tacoma. I've owned a 93 2wd shortbed pickup, a 07 Tundra 4x4, a 08 4runner 2wd, and I just traded that in on a new 08 Tundra... but if I wasn't such a big dude or have as much to tow on occasion, I would have gotten a Tacoma.

I test drove a bunch, but for me I weighed price vs. mileage vs. comfort and ended up with a crew max tundra. I only get maybe 2 mpg less that the Tacoma I wanted, so for me, I felt good about it.

If you don't have something to trade in, now's the time to get a great deal on a truck. I'd email a bunch of dealerships and let them throw prices at you, and don't be afraid to tell them "blah blah dealership in Marietta, or Newnan, or wherever is giving me a lot better price...get it lower and then I'll come by to drive it"

    Hope that helps.
