is this a monster or what. ls1 v8

That will throw off its weight distribution big time. Cool none the less though.
hmmm.... I'm on the fence with this one..... Need to see a finished product.
damn... frist the 2jz.. now a v8... but hey its something new... good luck with that

I don't like this one it defeats the purpose of the s2000.

ls1 doesn't weigh much at all, i have picked one up by myself, im a big guy ( 6"2 332 very muscular ) but picking up a motor by myself...a 400'ish hp motor at that.
badass, ls1's aren't super heavy, the hardware they come with prolly is though (tranny)
Yeah i was about to say, it doesn't look very big. Plus, isn't it an aluminum block?Originally Posted by onebaddXJ@teamFX
If they can keep it really tucked up to the firewall, it shouldn't throw off the balance much from stock. The LS is no longer than the F22, just a bit wider. But when you look at an S2K to begin with, the entire engine is behind the strut towers. Great candidate for a swap like that really.
V8's get a bad rap for being huge and heavy, but in what other configuration can you get 5.7 or more liters of displacement, nearly three times that of an average 4 cylinder, while only being slightly wider and somewhat heavier? In an S2k, having instant power no matter what rpm would be well worth the few extra pounds.
I bet all that thing will do is spin tires. With added weight in the front and added power to the rear wheels.
Lol. No.Originally Posted by Oz10
I wonder though what differential they're going to use. The diff is supposed to be the weak link on the S2k isn't it?
i wonna see that run lol...
its a tad bit heavier than the f22c but not too heavy...ls1's are pretty light...Originally Posted by ATK_Designs

ls1's get great gas mileage, up to 30 mpg on the highway...and low 20's around town if your not dogging it.
Just because its a v8, doesnt mean its heavy, sucks gas, and is worthless. Lots of potential in the LS motors.
WHere are the rest of the pics? ANyone can set a car body over a motor......

I wouldn't doubt if it's lighter. You could get that motor 100lbs lighter than a bone stock S2k easy. Aluminum.
It is... I had to replace one on my AP1 after it ate a bunch of its own teeth.Originally Posted by straight6
I agree with what you said earlier too. The car is a great candidate for swaps because there is so much room, and because of where the engine sits. It isn't your typical setup for FR motoring.
It has been said, but the LS1 isn't much heavier than most engines, and any weight gain will be offset severly by a huge increase in power and torque. I have been watching that build, and the guy is really doing it right.

waiting for the complete product.
I find that hard to believe. I can't see the T56 being lighter than the Honda transmission. I also can't see the aluminum V8 being lighter than an aluminum 4cyl.Originally Posted by ATK_Designs
You're obviously ignorant when it comes to V8s. I got 28-32mpg on my heads/cam Z06. Granted, this was taking it easy on the car, but it's very tame when you want it to be.Originally Posted by eYezs1ck
LSXs are aluminum block/heads.
And I'm typically all about big motors in little cars, but I don't know how I like this one yet. I'd also have to see the final product and weight distribution numbers.
for being different though.
Almost any cammed V8 is going to sound good.Originally Posted by LS2_KID

Not really................... that car is so light it won't drink unless you are standing on it the whole time. you might drink more if he was boosting the 4 banger.Originally Posted by eYezs1ck
