I like it. Makes me want to get started on my NA, but it is sitting and waiting for the 5.0 swap...

Meh, to each their own. I'll have as much power as a low boost turbo or stock JRSC but without the extra weight or hassle of tuning. Not to mention it'll only be a fraction of the cost and sound wicked. Boost just isn't my thing.

There's really no replacement for displacement if reliability and longevity are to be kept, so I'll get what cubes I can out of the stock block. The lack of weight will do the rest. It should be pretty well rounded in the end.

-Sprix--Good luck with the monster swap. Wish I had the budget for that right now. Got many of the parts assembled for it?

-Thanks John, see you at the next Athens.

Just got a new exhaust made today at a local muffler shop that does primarily custom work. Nice and raspy

Well, there really isn't much ci in a 1.6 to begin with, and it is not reliable to bore them out. In that case, you'd want to look into a 1.8 swap, and while you're at it, get a 99 head. Then you can always add a FM 2.0 stroker kit.

i agree with mike a na b6d, is gonna cost you more than its worth.. but it will be fun. even if you do a 1.8 swap.. yoru gonna have to squeeze everything out of it to get 170 NA hp..

I know I won't be getting 170 out of it. Point is, the rebuild is going to cost very little. Custom sized pistons will be the only semi-major expense, and that's only $400. I work in a machine shop. All the machine work is free, lol. We'll see what happens. It's fun enough to drive already. If I can eke another 30 whp out of it with a slight overbore, bump in compression, and a little headwork, I'll be happy with it.
