    Default 1990 NA Miata

My Miata got some new wheels yesterday, it's nice out today, seemed like an opportune moment for some picture takage. Comments, concerns, knock yourselves out.

Hypno, you actually prompted me to drive to the landfill and the metal scrapyard to weigh the car but I was a few minutes late to both, I've been curious about that myself. The AC and power steering alone were well over 50lbs, but I don't want to overestimate on the rest.

Integra: Yep, I put it in. It's surprisingly easy if you have a second set of hands to jimmy it in place. It does require cutting a bit of the rear shelf out (on the NA at least), but otherwise it's just drill the holes and bolt it in place. Obviously all my interior panels were already gone so that simplified things on mine. If you follow the directions on the Hard Dog website it's no problem at all. PM me if you need help.

911: Yeah I had her parked on the Varsity end of the lower parking lot, was next to another white Miata most of the time. It'd be good to meet ya next time, I'm a big fan of the early 911's.

MX3: I saw you guys' cars in GRM a while back, and I think I met you at the Varsity a few months ago. Anyway, she'll be getting lowered in two weeks, Flyin' Miata springs and KYB AGXs.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

Try Shell Rotella 15/40 for diesel trucks. Works great..and is cheap.

Thanks Hulud. Mine gets a little smoky in the upper revs too. Dunno how many miles are on the motor, didn't get any records with it, but the body has 177k right now. What's yours up to?

ITB's definitely come last, if at all. So bloody expensive. Right now, just higher compression, bigger bore, cams and headwork. It's nice working at a machine shop.

mines at about 102k not high at all. i dont really see any smoke unless i rev high when the engine is cold, so i think the main problem was me switching to synthetic, but we will see when i change my oil next

Meh, to each their own. I'll have as much power as a low boost turbo or stock JRSC but without the extra weight or hassle of tuning. Not to mention it'll only be a fraction of the cost and sound wicked. Boost just isn't my thing.

There's really no replacement for displacement if reliability and longevity are to be kept, so I'll get what cubes I can out of the stock block. The lack of weight will do the rest. It should be pretty well rounded in the end.

-Sprix--Good luck with the monster swap. Wish I had the budget for that right now. Got many of the parts assembled for it?

-Thanks John, see you at the next Athens.

And Super Skeet FTL! If it weren't for GRM I wouldn't have this car, lol.

Hulud, do you like your Eibachs? I'm still a little undecided on springs.

Good luck picking up that 302 Ian, they're pretty heavy.

The black and tan has Eibach Pro too. They seem to work fine with Koni's and FCM bumpstops. Obviously from the pic you can see ride height. If I was buying new suspension I would be looking at Ground Control coilovers...they use Eibach springs as well and that way you get adjustability.
Of course if you have the $$ Tein Flex is nice.
