    Default Audio experts needed please....

Well, lets start off with my setup. I am running the factory head unit, I have one of those little boxes from circuit city so I can wire up a sub/amp, I have a kenwood 1000w amp and 2 L7 Kickers. I have wired them up in many different variations. But I still get the same problem. Now It is being more common. The subs will hit very hard then dim down and stay that way for awhile. Every now and then it'll go back to normal and pound once or twice, then fade away. It used to only happen when I pushed them very hard, but now it is all the time. Any ideas? I really appreciate the help.

No words though the speakers. I wired the subs up in a series yesterday which prob made it worse. But when I had the amp wired up for the 2 channel option and the subs wired up normally, I pulled out one of the male RCA connectors and the **** POUNDED harder than ever. I dunno why....I hate audio. I never understand it.

no, the speakers are wired up correctly. I tried to wire up the subs in a series. taking the + from one running it to the - of the other, while that + wire ran to the bridged + of the amp and the other speaker's - was wired to the amp in the bridged - position. Get what I am saying? EVen when it WAS wired up the normal way, with the 2 channel option, each channel to each speaker, it would cut off and barely hit. Then it would come back on, then off, etc....

that amp is not nearly enough for those subs. are those dual 2 ohm vc or dual 4 ohm vc? i personally would get a mono block instead of a 2 channel amp. anyway, if they are dual 2ohm, wire them in series and you will get a 2ohm load. if they are dual 4ohm, wire them in parallel and get a 1ohm load. make sure to get an amp that is 1ohm stable if you go that route. you will need an amp that can run about 1000w rms to power them. gl

they are dual 4 ohm subs. I guess I will have to upgrade. Amps are just so damn expensive.

the sub requires 500+ just to get it started...as stated by BB50..ur giving it 480watts (i imagine thats your amps full capacity) there for you are running the amp overtime causing it to cut out.

wats the specs on that amp u have pushing BOTH L7s?

you could go with this amp and run each sub to its own channel and it would power them perfectly. it runs 500w rms @ 2ohms per channel. also, mtx amps always underrate their amps, so its probably closer to 600. pretty good price too.... http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...36&dcaid=17902

they are not underrating their amps, they are saying it can and WILL hold 500 continuous watts w/o losing power

i understand what they are saying, but thats a minimum rating for their amp. they say there 801d will do 800w @ 2ohms. each amp is a little different though, so they come with a birthsheet. most mtx amps do well over what they are rated at. it continuously, without losing power, does over 900watts rms.

i think he's saying you need to upgrade that amp. your starving the l7's lol. i had the kenwood 920 and i couldn't keep a fuse in it unless i wired it in a series. Had nothin but problems out of it when i hooked it up to a sub with a high rms. like the titanium eclipse and the eye candy audiopipes. *edit* yea my bad i posted after readin the 1st page but not the second. oops lol
