i understand what they are saying, but thats a minimum rating for their amp. they say there 801d will do 800w @ 2ohms. each amp is a little different though, so they come with a birthsheet. most mtx amps do well over what they are rated at. it continuously, without losing power, does over 900watts rms.

It could be a couple of things... first what gauge is the power wire?... then what fuse are you using? your supposed to have 100 amps per 1000 watts. also if your amp cuts down like that it either not getting enough power or there is a short in the mother board. another thing is the kicker L series subs require alot of power and should have a mono block amp class d!

he will need a stout amp if he has 2 dual 4 ohm subs cause he can only run 1 or 4 ohms out of the amp so something like this or bigger

the L7 needs more power than a 1000 watt amp bridge the amp. in see if it makes a diff. or wire ur sub like this pos. to pos to amp then neg to neg to amp or u can do a setup where u get one wire run it on one side of the sub neg. to pos. then run ur positive out then ur neg out.

Get a better amp man! At least 2000W rms. maybe somebody who knows how to install also cause wiring and amp and fuse rating are important too.

    ^thanks..i guess.

FYI i just blew the fuse in the amp. WTF. I dont get it, is the radio to powerful for the amp? Why would the amp cut out if it has a max rating on it? Its like a speed govener, the car isnt going to blow up if u sit at the S.G.

ok, read the original post and I have a few questions. If it was answered already just say so and I'll do soem more reading.

    1. What actual model subs and amp? I know its a kenwood amp and L7's, but it would help to have the actual model number like S10l7d4 or whatever.

    2. What is the final ohm load that the amp is seeing?

    3. How it it wired up and with what size wire?

    4. How were your gains set?

    5. Have you tested your battery and alt to make sure they were still good?

We can move on from here and see if we can get this figured out.

Just because the amp isn't "big enough" isn't going to cause the speakers to hit hard and then all of a sudden fade out...

Im sure he is not getting the correct power to the amp and other things. those subs require plenty of power which means you need alot of power coming from the amps, which pull power from the batt and alternator. I work on systems down in miami for dream cars south.
