How many whites in the south are TRULY interested in black history though? I dont want to come off hostile in any way but hell a lot of whites here dont even like being around black people let alone try and learn something about their heritage.

I dont see the problem with a month of recognition personally. I'm sorry but while economically I will say there is a level playing field, socially there is not and I'm not sure if there will ever be. Black history month isnt being forced on anyone, if you don't believe then don't celebrate.. pretty plain in simple.
