Default What RPM will I have full boost at........

Sup guys, Im getting my car tuned this coming up week, And I have a turbo Im a little unsure if I wanna use or not. I wanna hear what people on here think that at what RPM will I hit 28PSI at on this set up, My motor consists of

    B18b1
    Benson Sleeves
    CP pisonts
    Eagle rods
    ACL bearings
    Crower cams(404)
    Crower springs
    Crower retainers
    Crower valves (stock size)
    Port and Polish
    3 Angle valve job
    Victor X intake manifold
    Peakboost turbo manifold
    AEM fuel rail
    Walbro fuel pump
    Precision 1000cc injectors

THE turbo is a Biagio GT35/40 turbo.
    Specs on turbo:
    T3 flange.
    Compressor housing : ar.70
    Exhaust Housing : ar1.00
Journal Bearing with 360 degree thrust.
    Oil-cooled bearing system.

Thanks for all the help, I Built my motor for more of a "street car" approach, but with a good bit of WHP, mostly I want my car for highway runs, Do you guys think this turbo could be a good turbo for a highway car?

See if its 5-6k RPMS that will be fine, but 1.00 AR exhaust housing is pretty damn big

Yeah that housing is huge man, just order a different housing with a smaller AR size...Its going to laggy as crap, I had a t68 with a .81ar housing with a 9:1 cr and it was super laggy...Full spool (30psi) was at like 7500rpm...

You can take the turbo to a shop that rebuilds turbos and they should be able to that.Thats what i did. With the smaller housing and big internals you shouldnt get that much lag from it. I say you should get full boost at about 5-6k G/L.

What kind of power are you looking for? It sounds to me like you need to take it to a shop and tell them what you want. That or do a lot of research, and not just "so and so made xxxwhp @xx boost with blah blah blah turbo". That is not a valid search and is what most noobs do, so they think just b/c 1 person did it on h-t anyone can do it. Go with mike on this one, get a sc61 or a 62-1.

i dont think it will hit full boost at 5000rpm. most b-series turbos engines hit full boost at about 6500rpm min that i've seen...only turbo that came close was the T3/T4b super V 63a/r turbo

Ya, I dynoed the 62-1. Its a nice turbo, my head cant flow past 7600RPM, it hits a brick wall. So im gonna sell the 62-1 and get like a 57 trim, I shouldve went that route the first time instead of puttign a big turbo on a head that cant flow it. So Im just gonna go with a smaller turbo, that comes in early and stays solid til 7600RPM or so

smaller turbo =faster spool but not as much top end power.

what you need to do is figure out what you want to make. you have stated repeatedly that you want 450+, a smaller turbo IS NOT GOING TO DO IT.

    you need a VTEC head.

IMO instead of screwing around swapping turbos, for the 5th time. Listen to waht everyone has told you from day one, BUY A VTEC HEAD, make 500-550whp with the setup you have, and move on.

right now youll buy a 57trim, an still have the same problem. It will spool late, and not make any more power.

the HEAD is whats causing such a late spool, and such a shitty powerband.

eliminate the problem, the head, not make another one.

an efficient turbo properly chosen for the motor at hand should work fine...if not there is always a 10lb bottle with some juice

need to look into an SC-61 or a ball bearing GT35. don't listen to all these people that think you can make power unless you have a V-tec head. one reason you could be hitting a wall at that RPM is the cams. cams only make power for so long. if oyu got a nice P&P head you need to upgrade the cams. look into the crower 404's they work great with boost on the LS motors. plus LS head will give you atleast 50 tq over than say someone with a V-tec head with similar HP. TQ is where its at and wat makes a boosted LS so much fun to drive. look into some cams and put that bigger turbo you got to work.

    wow, WRONG WRONG WRONG

his car HAD 404s cams. The head is not able to FLOW enough air to make the power he wants. i can post his dyno if you wont. cams have nothing to do with it, neither does the turbo. Swithcing to a GT35R is not going to solve the spool or FLAT powerline.

LS head will not give you 50/TQ over a vtec head, whoever said that is a moron. The LS BOTTOM END gives more TQ because it has an 89mm stroke vs the GSRs 87mm. But he already has an LS block, so heres his predicament:

His car runs out of steam at 350whp because even adding more boost doesnt make any more power, because it flatlines in the top end. His head has maxxed out so he can either:

Pull the LS head Spend $1500 on a QUALITY port job, oversize valves, then put it back on

    OR

buy a stock VTEC head for $500 an make 600whp.

we had the HIGHEST WHP LS motor in the country making 630whp. I know how much money he had in his cylinder head, and it was over $2000. He could have just bought a stock VTEC head an make the same power if not more, but he wanted to be different. different=pay more money

Mr. Kidd is making a valid point.

its like filling up an 8 oz glass. you can fill it up with water as fast as you want, you'll still have 8 oz. If you want it to hold more, get a bigger glass.

Hope my analogy made sense. I'm not the most knowlegable on hondas but certain principals are the same. Sounds like the Vtec heads is the better choice the alternative cost three times as much, for the same results.

Mike, this is funny and true, remember like 3.5 years ago when I screaming the same thing to people. Ha, If Earl Laskey stood by it, so was I. I did and gained 313.6 with a bone stock rough casted obd1 B-16 head.

the main problem is/was the head. for those that haven't followed all taylor's of taylor's threads...apparently he didn't have 404's after-all. he got a set of cams thinking they were 404's and had a friend install them and they turned out to be stock ls cams.

head flow and stock cams held him back.
