You can build a mild 350 with 325hp/400 ft.lbs for $1500. That is with a very mild cam and a vacuum secondary carb (We were looking into building a motor for my friends '78 Buick Regal). In such a light car, you'd be stupid fast with 16MPGcity/19MPGhighway with a TH-350 tranny behind it. If it is not DD you could go alot more extreme with the motor. That one we just panned out to be a cheap, torquey motor with good mileage for a daily. Besides, you could always go SBC-TT.JDM is getting wore thin real quick in my mind. It is just the current bandwagon. Do what you want with your money. I personaly think you'd have more fun with the SBC 240. I'd be faster than all these SR20DETT cars running around and it'd be different. Also, I don't think you'd care about weight distribution if you would think about this swap.
