    Default Waterpump, Ford Contour

Just wow, i have never heard of plastic impellers on a waterpump. The failure rate is so bad and the temp sensor is too late to notify. Just fail all around.

So i come across this -

Water pumps on Duratec V6 engines are prone to failure around
50,000 miles (some with as little as 30K). The problem lies
with their plastic impellers which have been known to crack
on the shaft (stops turning) or even disintegrate all together.
Either way, lack of water flow causes the engine to over
heat. The worst part is the temp. sensor won't tell the
gauge to read hot until it's far too late and the engine is
ruined. Don't let this happen to you. Replace the pumps
before 50K. We have sourced a premium quality
replacement water pump with a cast metal impeller that has
proven to be more reliable. Note: pump includes gasket

That's a Ford for you. Anything you buy on the shelf anymore is all aluminum. The plastic impellers didn't last long.

dude thats nothing. i had a contour svt and they are known to have bad oil flow. they spin bearings as often as a oil change. they are crapy engines. i ended up doing the 3.0l swap in mine after a miss shift led to a spun bearing. they are fun cars but they are crapy made.

You retards think that Ford was the only ones that ever ran plastic impellers? DERP

And yeah most of anything you buy now is better, guess what its 2011. You're talking about at least an 11 year old motor design. But you know, I had a Duratec V6 that had about 50 bottles on nitrous pumped through it with no issues! GO FIGURE.

If you actually need assistance, post up, but flame wars on car makes are stupid and leads to dumb ass posts from ignorant people.
