thicker headgaskets are perfectly safe in most cases, the only downside is you have a bigger "weakspot?" i dont know if its the right term but thats what i call it LOL, and also be sure BOTH mating surfaces are clean. you can also look into increasing your combustion chamber volume, or like NEMO stated shave the pistons down
