Agreed. I can see an S2K hang with an Evo in the corners, but Evos are definitely faster in a straight line stock for stock.
Having autocrossed an Evo and been in close contact with multiple people that have autocrossed S2Ks, I know that stock Evos tend to push in corners while S2Ks can be pretty twitchy and snap-spin. I have also heard complaints from S2K drivers about hitting VTEC in the middle of a turn and the instant addition of power can unsettle the car and make it spin. Granted, an Evo can build boost in mid-turn under acceleration, but being AWD makes it more predictable. If you plan to mod, Evo all the way. The 4G63 has been around for a loooong time and that means power adders are pretty cheap, well tested, and there are a lot of good tuners to choose from.
However, it is pretty pricy to insure an Evo since they are notorious for flipping into lakes in the wrong conditions.
