Thread: Where's the best to get a 302 (5.0)?

    1987-1992 Mustang was a good choice. Prior to 87 you where about 25hp shy, and in 93 the power rating was dropped around 20hp and 15 ft lbs. The 1987 to 1992 where rated at 225/300. Bolt on a set of Explorer GT40P heads, a small cam such as an E303, and a good upper/lower intake and you will have a pretty decent budget setup.

    So can I get the mounts off of an exploror? What year? Tramsmission? What's the price outcome look like?

    There are tons of SBF to Ranger motor mount kits out there. Personally for a transmission I'd try to find an AODE out of the same Mustang if you want an automatic, if not you can attempt a T-5 but be prepared to replace them often if you decide to make any power. Price depends on how extreme you choose to go.
