Good question. Guess it's domestic since it's got the blue oval. If it was an import that means the ranger would be one too and that just can't happen, lol.

Ford eventually makes that motor and puts it in the contour/tarus and mazda 6. 3.0V6. But regardless... the whole car was designed in the US. The JDM parts won't make that turd any more shiny.

the F2T is all mazda. you may be mistaken with the 3.0 vulcan motor which is all ford that came in the probe lx.

The Probe was designed from the European Ford Sierra concept and they do share parts with Mazda's. its a world wide mut.

The F2T is the only semi decent thing about the Probe. Everything else is shit. The F2T and i are soulmates, but i would NEVER own nor drive a F2T probe. I'll stick to the 3 F2T Mazdas i own.

1st gen probe/mx6 arent that bad, they are just heavy cars. but the motor is great, but that can be said about alot of cars that are heavy with great motors. A chassis can be built for whatever need be. But a good motor is a good motor from the start.

if im not mistaken the motor that came in the ford probe gt also came in the ford taurus SHO (the early 90s body style) but the one that was in the probe was detuned and there was a detuned version in the late 90's taurus's NON SHO! its a duratech V6 DOHC 24v which is neither mazda or ford! Yamaha made the duratech motors!

I mean thats all opinion, but the mx6 and probe are the same car.. just look different. i personally like the mx6 better in the 1st gen, but the 2nd gen probe takes the cake between the 2. But the 1st gen probe has its place..

yeah Rob! i never got to see the car! it met its fate though......a tree fell on his garage and smashed it....almost all is still salvageable though and he will be putting the FE3 into his new yata he picked up!

as far as the V6 swap in a miata! the way i think about it, if people can successfully cram a LS1 all the way to a LS6 in the miata, i can fit that V6.......just gotta mate up a trans!

Its the same car..Probe has more gauges,better suspension,bigger wheels(2nd gen),shorter final drive!mazda has a better interior!!Ill buy a probe over a mx6.If probes are shit,then mx6 are shit also...If it wasnt for probes,mazda,build on the same chassis, wouldn't have any aftermarket support.

he is one the local miata forums alot....i think he is an engineer! smart dude none the less.

i think what he did to do the swap though was uses the FE3(jdm) motor, mazda b2000 bell housing and RX-7 gear box, and a lot of fab work!

you can get the FE3 here but it comes in a KIA in the US, overseas it comes in the MX6 i think........

I think about this all the time with my Talon. But it's different because a Probe isn't a rebadged anything, no matter who made the drivetrain it's still just a Probe, and wasn't sold by another brand. The argument applies to DSM's but I can't really think of anything else. Probe=domestic.
