Still loving the fact you said you're going to do it and a few days later it's doing it. lol

cause i want to get it done lol
well my main push it that this car is my DD. i dont have a second car. it just happened by chance that my AUTO trans died so i have an excuse to do the swap.
i like my car and do not ever consider selling it if motor or trans dies. when the motor dies, i will buy a second car but keep the J30 and the 300zx TT motor goes in.
talked to the guy that i am getting the parts from tomorrow and he said the 300zx is in a garage so i wont have to worry about weather making it sucky to get the parts i need.![]()
Really impressed with the motivation of you and your squad bro. I think I fall in the category of the 99.9% of the people with more hope than help...lol. Just motivated me to get off my ass and start ordering parts for my turbo project ('68 Le Mans). Of course having good friends, is a motivation as well. Looking forward to seeing this project through to completion...then you can help me flip mount headers on the sbc before the turbos go on...lol
Got all the parts I need yesterday. Will post what I've done for the past 2 days tonight.

Ill go ahead and post some since I have some time at home this afternoon. Took my parents out for lunch for V-Day.
Saturday I went and got the transmission and other parts I need for the swap. I got the pilot bushings swapped, replaced rear main seal on my motor, swapped tranny brackets on motor, mock mounted the trans to see how it fits (it fits good!), then we got the clutch pedal located and started drilling holes for master cylinder.
Here is the dirty trans
Yah the 300zx had a bad rear main seal
J30 lower brackets aren't going to work
This is the best I can do for now with simple green and air wire brush
300zx lower brackets installed. The bottom bolt holes are threaded for the manual trans and the J30 brackets are not threaded and holes are slightly off.
Took out the auto trans pilot bushing
Auto pilot bushing (yah it cut it to get it out) vs manual pilot bushing
Cutting bolts that stripped on rear half of driveshaft
Inside view of there master cylinder comes through firewall to mount to pedal

'99 NB - Bolt on's and stuff.
now i really like this car
Finalized master cylinder and clutch pedal. Hand brake is also now mounted but not fully completed. Cant finalize it til I get most of the interior back together.

Hand Brake!
The 3 pedals and nope the one on the far left is NOT my foot brake

you gonna cut/trim the brake pedal?
yah im most likely going to do that
Looks like you guys now what you're doing, i would trim that brake pedal for sure though...
This is awesome. And your car has strangely turned me on to J30's, I always thought they were ugly until now.
Z1 NA Performance Clutch Kit, used clutch shifter fork, used clutch throwout bearing sleeve, used Fidanza lightweight flywheel, bronze shifter bushings, clutch release fork dust boot and throwout bearing.

all used but not abused! come on 5 speed sexiness!
Ordered a oil filter relocation kit also since right now it just drains down my block and all over my steering rack. Getting one from summit and hope to have it installed by the weekend. Summit TRD-1113

Last night was a successful night. Got the transmission fully mounted with new flywheel and clutch. The other guy I talked to in California said I would have to do a lot of custom fab with the tunnel and rear bracket on the transmission, but I only had to make small cut into a section that wasn't needed and the bracket lined up perfectly without and modification.
Once transmission was mounted we got the shifter setup by first cutting the hole needed and then assembling it. It works good except for now I have to get a short shifter since with current throw, I'll be smacking my knuckles against my radio and gauges.
Still need to hook up the hand brake cable, finish up the wiring and then get drive shaft made soon. Going to be calling in today to some places. Then its time to reassemble my interior and get it running!
Installing Flywheel and clutch
Transmission getting bolted in
ava_z32 working on getting shifter linkage installed
And it is fully mounted!
Put these spacers in to give the transmission about a 1/4" gap from my transmission tunnel above the control housing plate for the shifter
Hole cut in the tunnel for the shifter
The fun shift knob. Hold down the lever for some spray
Regular shift knob put on
Everything hooked up

PROUD SUPPORTER OF BAM-TECH WTF?
Im going to measure tonight for the drive shaft length and take it to Drive Shaft Specialists off of 41 here in Marietta on Thursday morning. I have test tonight and wed, so wed night i am going to try to go over and get wiring done and start putting interior back together. Depending on how long it takes to get drive shaft done I am looking to get it done by this weekend for sure.
Oil relocation bracket is in today from summit and seeing right now if one of my friends can run to Z1 Motorsports to get the short throw shifter. Its mainly reassembly now and firing it up.
Looking good man. I can't wait to see the final product. Z1 is right next door to me![]()

OMG,it's really happening and it looks great.
well measured for front section of drive shaft. they are going to have to extend it about 6 inches. also get to figure out where i am going to mount the oil bracket.
looks great man! i wanna run u again to see if the tranny helps that big ass motor out![]()
yah i am curious as to how much faster it will be. do know from 1/4 mile time comparison i was doing a 16.00 with the auto which is funny because most sites say my car ran a 16.7 stock so maybe the udp and intake are doing something. stock time for a 300zx is around a 15.5 with the manual. going to get it re-dynoed with the manual and see what power it will put down now. 181rwhp 168ft/lbs with the auto.
