i always just took mine to an oil change place and left it sitting outside the door..
like after hours type thing? I have a TON of used oil just sitting around, been too lazy to find a place. I did the drop off thing too after hours but thought I might get in trouble if doing it after hours. Just trying to figure out the 'proper' way to do it.
well you can take it to any oil changing place during hours but they may charge you. but i just leave it outside the doors after hours same thing with my old batteries..
agreed.oil places "charge you" HOW FREAKING GAY IS THAT?!!?!?
but yeah leave it after hours, or a recycling center might take it, the one in my area does for free
Most autopart stores take it. Autozone and Oreily Auto both do it. The limit is supposed to be 3 gallons per customer but they usually dont care because people hardly ever use the service.
pour it in the back yard....no one will notice. lol
Yeah we use Advanced. And don't pour it in the backyard. Please.
thanks for the info!
I always look for the drains in the street with the painted fish next to them.
nah, really...just call parts stores and ask if they take oil. I seriously doubt they pay to have it hauled away since there's a demand for used oil...not so much during the summer months but it's still there.
I take mine to Advance Auto Parts. I actually have pics of the big bin. I'll post soon. I've learned how to change the oil on multiple Lexus since 1996...saved me a ton and I like to know I changed the filter and oil myself![]()

Most oil change places up here take it for free, heck they get paid for used oil by the companies that pick it up anyway. When I worked at our local express lube McClean Fuels picked it up every week and paid fairly decent for it considering.
I dispose of peoples oil all the time at work, don't matter how much. Tune up clinic on barrett pkwy

you can filter it and re-sell itOriginally Posted by Drummerboy
Mine really dosn't leave the garage. People across the street think it is a tool bench.
Jiffylube probably uses the used oil and tell customers its new...jiffylube=FAIL...Originally Posted by Black4DrEK

A little more complex than just filtering it plus used motor oil is toxic. It's refined just like crude oil is but a slightly quicker process.Originally Posted by EP3sAreFun
Most of the time it's used for lubricating oil, not motor oil but the United States Postal Service and National Park Service use re-refined oil in their vehicle fleets.
The oil can be burned in boilers for heat and used to generate electricity, supposedly 2 gallons of motor oil can be used to generate enough electricity to power the average house for 24 hours...who knew!
I was kidding!! lolOriginally Posted by speedminded

That's pretty cool. I work in whole foods organic grocery store and they recycle a lot of stuff we use. You'll be amazed at how much stuff can be reused again for something else.Originally Posted by speedminded
autozone and i think its like 15 quarts
I take mine to work. All the heaters in our shop, quick lube & collision center are solely heated by used engine oil!
How much used oil do you typically use in the winter months?
Bozzio for president.
Quite a bit but i have no idea how much it would be by volume.
WHAT!!! WE'RE SUPPOSED TO CHANGE THE OIL IN OUR CARS!?!?!?![]()

Yep. Jiffylube is right down the street from me and they always take it for free..
Most of the time they seem like they're too busy standing around doing nothing to answer when I ask where to put it...
I've always used the quick lube places. They have always been cool with it to.
Someone PLEASEEE change the title to take instead of bring. You can't bring something to a place you currently are not at, you take it there lol!
