    the Mini

"In 1987, Road & Track published a test summary that shows the 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS outperforming every car of that year on the Slalom, including all Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches. It went through the slalom at 65.5 mph (105.4 km/h), an amazing result for the time. For reference, the 1988 Corvette took the same course at 64.9 mph (104.4 km/h)."

Edmunds tested the New Convertible Mini at 64mph in the slalom....that's significantly heavier than a base model non convertible and 67mph for the Cooper S convertible.

    Roadandtrack times
    700ft slalom speeds
    Cooper - 65.2mph
    Cooper Conv. - 64 mph
    Cooper S - 67.9
    Cooper S conv - 67.1
    Cooper Clubman S - 67.2
    Cooper S WORKS - ???

So the BONE stock BASE MODEL mini is right there with the TOP of the line Prelude. Though i dont see any 88 preludes winning national titles and world praise specifically for their extreme ability to carve up the pavement.

The OP is comparing two different type of cars. It's not like comparing a C6 and a C4. In your logic a 2003 350z and a 2003 Z06 should handle the same and a 2009 scion xB should handle better than a 1997 corvette.

What's the relevance to that question? You know exactly when they were produced.
