    Default Import trends....???

Can someone please explain the trend like, prop the hood up about 2" from the hinges, tag on dash, drift charms, and etc??
-Hood propping started with h22 swaps in civics then every one and their momma started doing it . Not the swap, the propping of hood. Why, if you have no h22 under the hood and mess up perfect lines of a car?
-If you got a tag plate, put it on a bumper not dash board.
-Drift Charms, accepted on drift cars on the track or in the ring...not civics and every other 240.

Ever noticed mostly all these "trends" only show up on low end imports. Not being cocky or saying shit, just what i have seen and noticed. My rant is over.

Every 240 is a drift car!

And when youre JDM, you can do and say anything with no consequence

QFT! If you have a 240, it is a drift car at heart, waiting for its sideways debut. The charm signifies that its is Zeus's iron chariot!

Stop fronting Suny; I saw the charm on the 7, and the Nurburging badge on the Subie with the rally armor mudflaps

Don't forget about all the tow hooks.

The hood propping thing is dumb, it can actually raise underhood temps.

EDIT: check first post, page 4 for reasoning

    Yeah if you are RACING...

Stock cars have tow hooks for tow trucks, they just don't stick out from the car and look shiny.

Well, I use to drive a tow truck. and when a car are lowerd so low, those tow hooks are what saved the front and rear bumpers from being damaged... It was much easier to hook right up to those insted of the factory locations... jmo...

yes, they CAN serve a purpose, as previously stated in this thread, for uber slammed cars where the stock toe hook is not accessible.

HOWEVER, you know damn well it's there for one thing, looks. and if anyone actually had to use it, that nice shiny toe hook would get scratched, and the driver would be ill minded about it.

tow hooks help tow a car when it's too low to the ground to pull it from the rad support.

i have no problems with anyone having a tow hook.

Yeah hood propping is "suppose" to be for letting hot air out. That's why you see it, does it work on half the cars? No. Because half that do it our stock Civics slammed on Rotas and a Jap front plate.

The drift charm well you know duh, it's like a good luck charm for drifting, stupid JDM wannabe thing. This year at Drift Atlanta and every meet I am going around ripping every hanging piece from a back bumper off, there will be a bucket full of stupid little bears and shit at the gate, if you want yours back, find it.

I have never understood the tag thing, I saw it in the lowrider scene though first so who knows, maybe some import guys have a little lowrider in their blood?

    EDIT:

Yes tow hooks, so fucking stupid. Unless it's a track car or you track it quite a bit, why does a street car need a tow hook, usually mounted in a bad spot anyway lol. I love when people put the wrong sticker for tow on their cars, like a Civic hatch that's on here, he had a battery kill switch arrow sticker pointing at the tow hook thinking it was a tow here arrow . 100% RICE.

Most race cars don't even have tow HOOKS they use straps lol.

Not just lowriders, but many people. Putting tags on your dash has been around for a LONG time.

    Shopping list...

2" spacer brackets to prop up hood.

Beanie baby to tie to rear bumper.

    Japanese plate for dash

Drywall screws to attach JDM plate to dash.

Does anyone know where I can get metric drywall screws? I want to keep my vehicle as JDM as possible.

    Anyhow... E-bay here I come.

The hood prop or what I call the "wrecked front end look" is retarded. They say it allows more heat to come out of the engine bay. Oh really? Any aerodynamic tests to back this? Exactly. Do the racers do this? Exactly.

The tag on the dash, has to be fucking stupid. Lets put a Japan tag up there to show off that my car was made in America.

yea i can get it if one has a slammed car or a car they track to have a tow hook, but Hood propped, drift charmed, tow hooked civic? Might as well put "Sipcy Rice" on the plate sitting on the dash.

My understanding...No one mostly gives a second look to some of these cars, beat up/stock/semi modded civics, 240s, etc. The "trends" are simply poor attempt to get attention, yea they work, but this is the attention they go.... . Prefect way it kill a clean car.

Good to be trendy, when you set it, not follow it.

Painting your wheels or one of your body panels a fruity color is also pretty JDM trendy.

I think for my Mad Tyte JDM truck I'm going to paint my tailgate pastel green. That should set off my big red arrow decals pointing to my tow hooks and fake battery cutoff really well.

you said it yourself...tag on dash. Where does it belong? I mean really is it so mad JDM tyte rare expensive that it needs to be on a dash not a bumper or needs to get showed off in such manner?

because just as propping a hood ruins the body lines of a car...so does a front tag...

I rejoice in the fact that I live in GA and don't have my front end soiled by a tag...

that being said some people still wanna rock the tags but not put the unsightly thing on the front of their car...

doesn't the front bumper already have holes for a front tag? I rejoice it too, no tag on the front end lol. If it makes you feel like you car looks cleaner with tag on dash, then no arguments . Your car, you do it if you like it, but opinions will be there.

I don't have a tag on my dash...I was just saying I didn't think that the "tag on dash" was a big enough deal to be included in a rant of this sort...

lol @ this thread - more or less a reminds me of a bunch of old dudes meeting to read the paper and talk about how "immoral the new generation of kids are."

old man #1: "yeah, popped hoods are gay"

old man #2 "yeah, tow hooks are gay too"

old man #3 "yeah, if its not a ballin part it's ugly"

old man #1 "race car guys don't do it, it must be stupid"

old man #3 "yeah! if it's not functional, it's POINTLESS"

...i remember when i was this way, let the kids do their own thing... what makes a trend anyways? you have to have followers for it to be a "trend", right?

no one said it has to be a balling part to stand out (in a good way) nor did anyone say it's pointless if not functional. Shit tons of mods that look good that are cheap and not so functional. All the above are simply eye sore.

Trends are good when they are seen not soo often and stay in a class of their own that sets them apart, even with followers. When something becomes very common it's not a trend anymore, simply a thing to follow.

I can careless if some wants to mess up a perfectly looking car, but questiong is why?
