wuts the best motor to turbo

ok i wana build me a motor to turbo but idk which one i should use i wana b able to get about 450 to 500 hp while boostn high.. as of now i have a b18b1i could build and i got a b17a1 head i could find a bock for or i could do a ls/vtec so if u have any opinions lmk thanks

The engine is just the engine. When you get done, hopefully most of the internal parts will be replaced anyways. I prefer GSR/Type R. But if you already have a B1 it will be fine. Have it sleeved, get an aftermarket girdle, arp main cap studs, gsr windage tray, pickup, and oil pan. Then just get forged rods and pistons. And of course the VTEC head up top tightened down with some ARP head studs and you should be able to support your goal.

Sleeve girdles dont do shit and are pointless if its sleeved. The only ones that work are the ones that some machine shops put in WITH sleeves. They are press fit in with very tight tolerances. The ones you buy and just stick in the block don't do anything because they don't fit in tight enough and still allow sleeves to move. Everything else you said is pretty much right on.

It depends on what you want to do with the motor.

I suggest you do some research(like on Honda-tech) before you attempt this.

boostin high?, the goal is to make as much power as possible on the least amount of boost. Just get a Gsr engine and build it or do the research on lsvtec, there is PLENTY of threads on that and i've been running lsvtec setups for about 5 years now.

Im also quite familiar with the workings of a Honda four cylinder engine so don't jump to conclusions..I have built a few Honda motors in my short time on this planet. GSRs and Type Rs come with them girdles, B16s and LS motors do not. D16s have girdle/maincaps in one.. Thanks for being a douche and trying to prove something. Why does he need an aftermarket girdle? I've seen plenty of guys making OVER than hp with the stock girdle..and the motors last. Sleeves are usually the only block work you would need for that power level.

Go to Honda-tech.com and click on the "search" tab. That will pretty much answer all of your questions.

If this is your first build, I don't think you need to be shooting quite so high on the HP number. If this will be the first time you've have a boosted car, I suggest you start off at low boost, say 7-8psi and see how you like it. You will be amazed at how much faster it is (and how much you spin the tires on the street) at that boost level.

Too many people get a car with a stock NA engine and then want to make 500 hp.. Build your way to up it..

Not completely necessary, but when I build a race engine, I really don't cut any corners. I don't mind spending a little extra cash on ensuring that my rotating assembly is going to stay where it's suppose to on 10k revs at high HP levels. But that's just me (and a lot of others).

Do it. Don't be sad though when the first motor you built blows up on the dyno trying to make 400whp.

When you plan for a build, make your budget for it...then double it because that's what you'll likely end up spending and you wont be surprised.
