Default Thought you had high miles??You should see this...

Sorry if this is a repost, but I thought this was very interesting to see. I guess Honda motors do last a good bit when maintained right.

    940,000 mile '95 Honda Civic (w/pics)

There's high mileage, and then there's this. A 1995 Honda Civic is for sale in Atlanta with, count 'em, 939,899 miles. That's 200-plus miles a day. Every day. Including Sundays. For 12 years. It even has a CARFAX report from when the car had 907,000 miles on it. According to the seller, the car runs like new, with no leaks, no noises, no oil burning, and not even a scratch on the body. In fact, the only blemish listed is that one of the dashboard lights doesn't work, and that's only sometimes.

The car is on its ninth timing belt, ninth water pump, and fourth clutch. But the engine and transmission are original, as are the floor mats. The car even comes with records. The most incredible thing isn't the mileage, though. It's how the owner put the miles on the car: driving on business trips from Atlanta ... to Seattle ... and San Francisco. We want to know what kind of business -- or what kind of boss -- makes a guy drive across the country and back, and then some, every single month for 12 straight years.

To paraphrase The Proclaimers, if you buy this car then you can drive a million miles and you can drive a million more ...

    Why would he sell that?

I would mount that in my living room. Somehow.

i like how one person responded saying there "Wife had '92 (94?) Accord which she drove for 240,000 miles on the original clutch."

how do you not know if its a 92 or 94...they are completely different body styles

Its not all that surprising though. Once a motor is warmed up and running - it really doesn't go through all that much wear. We already know Civics are great cars.

All said - 900k is still astounding. Nice find.

GM did that a year or so back with one of their pickups. Levi's bought a pair of jeans from the 19th century off of a farmer that found a pair of their jeans out on his ranch. Any time someone makes big headlines in a big way by proving that their product lasts a long time and is built really well, the company is more than happy to trade out for that kind of publicity. The companies say that they want to find out what made that particular product special, what made it last so long.
These are the instances I've read about. Toyota sends out a newsletter to customers with vehicles that have reached staggering mileage on their cars as well, usually one of their Jason like pickups that has been on a farm for the past 25 years.

Volvo does that all the time. For awhile they had high mileage badges you could get free on your car with proof of mileage. IE: accurate service documents etc. However, so many cars started racking up high miles, they stopped the program and simply started issuing stickers. I loved seeing the puzzled looks on peoples faces at the track on volvo meets when you see a car with 300,000 mile badges turning 12 second times. That being said, 900,000+ miles is astonishing on that car.

Really speaks not only volumes about honda quality, but the owner as well.
    My car is factory....

Every single performance part and or modification it has was made in a factory somewhere.

There is a family friend of ours that is sitting on 987,000 miles on her old volvo. I believe they replace the car after 1 million, but I'm not quite sure.

Wonder what kind of oil he has been using. And that's crazy as hell because most D-series oil pumps will take a crap before 250k even with regular oil changes and good oil. He had to of changed that out.

i used to work at an oil change place in lawrenceville. regular guy had his truck serviced there every time he had the oil changed since new, strictly with pennzoil.(it was a 96 or 97 gmc 1500). he hit 1 million miles. theres a copy of an article in the paper, a picture of the guy and truck, trucks odometer, and the brand new truck pennzoil gave him framed on the wall inside the shop. they took the old one back to the factory for research or some such thing.

pretty crazy, but the guy drive to like north carolina and back every day.

I wonder how many I can crank out of my s13 lol. It's at 225K now and still going strong.

Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.

Some engines just do really well, like an F22, with just maintenance it will run forever.
