I love how you call other people fanboys yet you'll back the GTR up to the grave in every aspect even if it's in the wrong, you have Nissan in your user name, AND you just said you didn't read the article, then made a claim/comment on the content. REPS for being such a close minded hypocrite. I love Mazdas, and rotary engines, but I'm open to all views at least.Originally Posted by NissanTun3r

I'm open minded, but i'm done taking this forum, and the ppl in it seriously. So I choose to be as stupid as I want to be on here. Who cares, itz de internetzzzz foooOriginally Posted by 87 Turbo II

Sooooo until there is a valid point here.....
Lets not sit here and discuss how much faster a vette is from a miata, it obviously is, but it's also a lot more expensive...I don't think you ppl understand that yet....
I would take a porshe gt2/gt3 over a gt-r who wouldn't, it costs a lot more.......![]()
I don't remember any Mazda ads saying that the Miata was a Vette killerOriginally Posted by NissanTun3r
I also don't remember Mazda posting track lap times for the Miata that nobody else could come close to reproducing.
UGA: Everybody is laughing at us this year.
The GTR was marketed as performing better than the competition while retaining a much lower price tag.. It failed on the performance aspect. I don't think you understand that yet....Originally Posted by NissanTun3r

They were comparing it to the GT2 because of the claims that nissan made about the times at "The ring".
Funny you say that..it lost.Originally Posted by NissanTun3r

So what happened?
i like nissan and all, but i think the GT2 will dominate the GTR.
GT2 for the kill....
edit: what did happen? lol
My guess is the Porsche had Harry overnight 15 grand worth of parts from Japan and decimated all.Originally Posted by Tran
^^ Yea I read something about porsche having to put Spoon engines in their cars to beat the GTR or something LOL.... I don't know Porsches very well but wouldnt the V-Spec GTR make a better comparison??

Not only the GTR has paddle shifting, you know Ferrari's have it too.. So don't get you panties all in wad when all I was pointing out is that paddle shifter's on ANY car is not something to be particularly be happy about..
Just went to Publix.. Automobile mag doesn't have it..![]()
Yep rule of thumb is 1/16th to recieve perks of being a specific race. lolololI have a quarter chink in my blood.. So I can say "chink" right? lol
March 09 issue with "Ford Lives" on the cover.
Anyway, driver gets a GT2 and a GTR and takes them both to the Ring for a test to see what car is faster. He admits he's not as fast as a pro test driver, but is a race car driver.
Porsche: 7min49sec
GTR: 7min56sec
One section on the track the GT2 was pulling 181mph when the GTR can only get 168 while flat on it's face.
On part he writes..."even using this early shift technique heading downhill to Schwedenkreuz (to allow for a few damp patches), the GT2 hits 162mph. The GTR, using every last revolution and with its instant gearshift, manages only 157mph."
He was short shifting the Porsche at some stages due to a wet track. It was damp in some spots. Which is even funnier because anyone that has driven a Porsche, especially a GT2, in the wet that would be HARD to do with Porsche's snap oversteer and such.
the porsche might of been able to hit a 7:45 without the damp spots, cause i'm sure the short shifting effected the time.
i guess all the hype of the GTR being able to dominate was all show and no go.
i still find it funny that nissan really expected the R35 to wax everything, and when it came time to prove it, it only showed it was the fastest loser. afterall, 2nd is first loser.
Technically they aren't even 2nd are they?
they got lucky this time around and got 2nd, any other time would probably have been 6th or lower.
wasn't Nissan's benchmark to beat the 911 turbo? and not the GT2? I mean, the GT2 is almost $100,000 more than the GTR, lighter, bigger tires, ect. Just saying....
it was.....all of a sudden its put up with the GT2...Originally Posted by Hikaru

Im glad to see this is settled somewhat..
Do some of you all just hold in all your GTR frustrations, until something bad about it pops up, so you all can get it all out...lol

I believe the 911 turbo would have beat it as well. In a magazine test. I mean this is a short shifting GT2 on a wet track and still beat the GTR by quite a few seconds lol.Originally Posted by JITB

I havent read the article so ill have to pick the mag up but damn yall sure do like to compare apples to oranges. I don't understand why 75% of the threads in here are to show how the GTR doesn't perform when it obviously does.Originally Posted by simontibbett

So, lets recap here..
Not only did Nissan lie about how fast they are, they can't build a car to be driven the way it is intended to be?
I mean seriously, bring in a Porsche 911 Turbo back into the dealership after 3k miles and see the faces the sales person does..

The real question is if the GT2 needed to have a new $20k transmission after doing anything that it was intentionally made to do from the factory?
I like the GTR, but nobody should compare it to a serious track machine, that's like comparing a special olympian to an actual olympian, it's sad and somebody's feelings will get hurt.
Some say that his politics are terrifying, and that he once punched a horse to the ground...
No the GT2 is RELIABLE vs Nissan's crap.
As for comparing the GTR to a "track machine"...Nissan proposed it to be just that.
