If you just want a fun car to track, get a E36 325i, swap in a M3 engine, and get suspension goodies.
I'm a track noob just trying to get into the game. Yea I think I'll just get a cheap car, upgrade the suspension and brakes, make the engine bulletproof and go from there.

I'd have to be rwd or fwd.

    So

    rwd:

    Miata
240 (No really forget drifting for a sec)
    BMW (Any of them)

    Fwd

    Civic
    Sentra/G20
    MX3

There are many others. The big thing here is a car that can help you improve to faster cars.

id prefer the Escort Gt/ protege Lx over the mx3 just because mx3's are a little heavier. and you can put the same motors in them. And they dont feel as stable to me in the. And you can find either running for about 500$
