Yeah this being for drag makes NO sense. Look at all the front engine FWD CRX drag cars, it's not like you are the first to thing of this and then everyone will change, there is a reason they are that way lol.
i will post pics as soon as poss.Originally Posted by EJ25RUN

but like i said i will post pics asap

What stage are you at with the project? A pile of parts, or have you already starting to mod the chassis?

OMFG what a waste of a CRX! Your weight claims are bogus, your project will NEVER be finished, and we will all laugh at you. Hell, we are all laughing at you now. ------------>

as far as having an aluminum chassis, thats not the best idea. aluminum its WAY softer than steel, so its more likely to flex hard as opposed to steel. at least make everything surrounding the driver out of steel.
and about your weight expectations... it MIGHT weigh close to 500 as it sits, but with a cage, motor/drivetrain, and all the other stuff youre gonna need, its more than likely to end up around 1500. think about it, ~500 for the motor/trans/etc, ~400 for the cage, ~250 for the floorpans/interior bits, ~100 for the fuel cell, lines, etc, ~22 for driver and seat, and ~150 for other random stuff that im too full of turkey to think about... its gonna end up close to 1500 if youre lucky.

Yeah I believe the 500lbs right now. I think when DONE, you will be about 1500lbs like Thighs said.
Regardless of the use of it and the weight. It looks liek a fun project. Im looking foward to watching this come together, best of luck!
i hope you watch the build as it comes together so i can rub it in your face when its done thanks for your opinion even if it is bad but thats why i posted this carOriginally Posted by BTLFED

ok i just saw the pics.. and go with something other than a Honda motor.. maybe a sr20 or rb20 or something other than a honda motor.. it will make it that much more better if u put a non-honda motor in it.. just my opinion... keep us posted and i have faith in u.. jus put in the time man...
Peek-a-boo mofucka what now?!
^^ thats another good idea. at least use a k20. i mean, if youre going for weight you might wanna use a lighter motor than a h22...
if it was me id say fuck weight and put in a FWD northstar caddy v8...![]()

Don't put a RB or an SR...wtf??? LOL. Def. use a K series if you can, or a B series. H series are the bulky engines.
Man I wouldnt have cut that much of the floor pan out without welding in temporary braces in on the chassis
I didnt cut out the center support just for that reasonOriginally Posted by green91
i will def not use a nissian motor or whatever

definately an interesting project. Good luck with it and have fun with it. I've seen pics of a 350 chevy powered crx but that would be pretty simple to do if all the resources were there.
1999 Mazda Miata- For Sale $4,500 FRIM!
You're gonna need to reinforce the hell out of this. Im thinking stitch welding strenght.
look on hondatech theres a guy with an h22 powered rwd prelude(or is it an integra?) you will learn a lot from him.

yeah, as some have said an h22 is a HEAVY ass motor. i think for the money, a b16 or b18 would be a better motor. it might be a little more costly but its gonna save you ALOT of weight. but then again, if its gonna be a drag car, weight isnt ALWAYS bad...
any more progress

yeah but i am just going to stick with the h22 because i cant think of how to run the linkage for the b series cause i was going to do a h2b swap but that run into a problemOriginally Posted by Thighs
and the h series has cables that i can extend or just run to the tranny and still shift the same

Watch what? Another failed attempt at making a rear engined CRX that's fast, ruining another CRX in the process? You have no idea what you are talking about. I look forward to laughing at you in the future.Originally Posted by rwdcrxproj

No I'd rather piss off a fag with no common sense such as yourself. So what happens if magically you actually get this thing together? You will MAYBE, just MAYBE have a 12-13 second car that will get smoked by most FWD Hondas with decent horsepower. Then what? You have effectively ruined a CRX, put thousands and thousands of dollars into a "design" (and I use the term loosely) that has failed, and you will never be able to sell it to anyone because no one wants a heap of shit like you are trying to build. Congratulations moron.Originally Posted by rwdcrxproj
