Until you realizes it's a waste money or you fucked up doing something wrong and the chassis can't be repaired properly. I don't wish any bad luck but alot of projects like these don't get finished. Good luck to ya.

    Why is it a waste?

The people competing in the SCCA GT4 class have been doing it for over a decade.

Are these cars a waste? The can lap a race track faster than a 911 so i feel that it is a pretty big achievement.

Are you going for a race setup or a street setup?

Drag? Um, that i do think it a bit of an off setup. Mahdavi's midengined V6 CRX was rather slow for all the money they threw at it.

Mid engined cars belong on a road course. You'd probably have more success if you try that instead.

well the way im looking at it is in most cases a stock h22 powered crx is usually somewhere in the 13s or 12s with traction problems maybe and i am planning on h2b too
so my crx is mid eng. rwd So less traction problems because your intire car weight is at the rear tires
now a modified car that will prob. weight 750lbs or a little more should run a much better time due to power to weight ratios
i will prob. have to put weights in the front to keep it down thought
and yes the fab work has already started the car weights about 400lbs right now
no windows, hatch,or doors and some cutting already
but thanks for the advice and if the drag does not work i will keep road course in mind

Yep, they are still a waste in my opinion! I love CRXs and I'm a purest. So when you chop one up to make it something that it's not suppose to be, I view it as destroying it. Mint CRXs are becoming harder and harder to find (with 88's becoming even more difficult to find) because ricers, wreaks, and rust. His year was the best out of all of the 2nd generation, and now there's one less decent one left. Plus, CRXs do not need to be rear wheel drive to perform. Cool it lap a track faster than a 911, I'm pretty sure Hasports one can too. Anyways, I doubt we'll see eye to eye on this topic since I'm a CRX enthusiast.

I can respect that. Maybe 4 years ago i'd have seen eye2eye with you since i did understand the JDM thing before it got...old. Anyways, i guess as you are a CRX purest, i am a motorsport purest which is why i remember looking at these crx creations with an odd look until i saw them go around a race track. To be honest, most of these have turned into almost Nascar like creations so calling them crxs is a stretch but the good news for you is that most of these are built out of AT generation CRXs.

When you say "IT HAS ALREADY BEGUN", what do you mean? Have you started the fab work, or do you just have an idea?

It is still rwd no matter where the engine is. I think you're over complicating it.

theres no fucking way it will weigh 750lbs when finished. theres no way it weighs 400 right now unless you had ALL the bodywork off and the entire floorpan cut out., along with having the motor dropped and ALL the suspension out. they weigh a little over 2000 stock. it will probably end up being close to 1700 when done.

how built is this motor gonna be? its gonna need around 450-500hp to get the wheels up, and some BIG drag slicks.

im not tryin to shoot down your dreams and i definitely think its gonna be a cool car if its done right, but some of the info you posted is impossible. this car will end up being better suited for road courses/autocross/gymkhana. in fact, there was a CRX with a mr2 engine in the back that was built by Backyard Special, and it was a BADASS 'khana car.

Someone doesn't know what they're talking about....... Hayabusa racing motor cycles weight 450 pounds. You really expect anything remotely car shaped to get to 750? Hell the wheels and tires can be anywhere from 60 to 180pounds depnding on what you're running.

I have to ask, how old are you?

Lastly, posting pics is NOT that hard, I don't know why so many people can't figure it out. Here is a guide.

and what part can you not read OR A LITTLE MORE
not sayin exactly that much just sayin some where in the ball park due to the use of alot of alum. parts on the car and in the motor removing steel parts replacing with alum. etc. and so on so think about it there isnt going to be much there but if you like it better 750 to (1000)lbs <-a little more

Your claims just sound like mine did when I was 14. I'mthinkin if you're lucky, you can get it to 1200 but it'll probably end up being 1,400 will full aluminum, magnesium, fiberglass, and carbon fiber components.

^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle

LMFAO AT YOUR WEIGHT ESTIMATE I thought you might be cool at first.

EDIT: Is it just a tube chassis weighing 400lbs right now? I can believe that.
