Default 7 worst ways to mod your car (Most of this applies to IA!!!)

    http://www.spike.com/blog/seven-worst-ways-to/67863

Let me add a few things onto that......

HID + non HID compliant lamps = FAIL! Just because you think it looks cool to have really extremely cool colors coming from your lights means it's actually safe. The light pattern that is projected with diamond reflector type headlamps and projectors is way more controlled vs. the standard halogen lense, which scatters the light pattern and thus blinds everyone else on the road. I hope you get a ticket a thousand times over.

Short throw shifters, unless there was some real engineering put into, in short is an overall dumb idea. The whole intent of the STS is to reduce the throw of the shifter thus increasing the speed time of gear selection in between gears which means if you increase the length below the pivot point, the fulcrum must also be increased as well because you also increase the effort need to select your gears. The dumb part of it is when the length below the pivot is increased by a good bit and the fulcrum is shortened, extreme notchiness is the direct result. Also, these style STS contribute to synchro wear and eventually failure. Scatching gears recently?

Bigger injectors, fuel rail, and stronger fuel pump on a stock n/a motor doesn't equal a faster car. It means an overall slower car that's drinking more fuel due to the time the injectors are being left open with the factory settings. The factory parts have been painstakingly designed to produce enough power with plenty of room to adjust for failure. Your car can run rich on it's on if there's a problem. More fuel doesn't mean more power. More air + more fuel = more power. If you can increase the CFM (the flow of air) of your motor, you'll make more power. without having to increase injector or fuel pump size.

I hope some of this helps ya'll.

That's the thing. That's all I see. Especially in the Honda community. If you ask me who's car is who, I couldn't tell you the difference between them. Besides, this isn't a "Bash Honda" thon going here. Wasn't the whole intent.

I have some Gripes about the list.

The exhaust issue... cars with a loud exhaust doesnt mean a ****ty exahaust....we all know the difference between a ****ty exhaust system. And a loud ass non restrictive exhaust.

Race flywheel/clutch on 200hp na cars....
Daily driven race clutches/flywheel, aint new.. its all personal if you can bare with the touchy clutch/flywheels setup.. Go you!, get that power to the ground..

But i do have a gripe about people removing things from their car for no reason.... go and put a intake on their car and drop on a breather filter..

invest in some of these..my fellows!

u cna use both of them to filter the crankcase fumes. instead of just having them blow into thin air. Instead of recirculating them back into the Intake manifold. or TB wherever it goes back to like its supposed to.

The hose that gets disconnected by people is used to vent. But it can cause problems when the Pvc setup gets clogged. So u can use a inline breather filter to filter the fumes or a glass inline fuel filter like the second one.. i used to on my pro.. worked great! even with a new pcv it still let soem stuff get by that the glass filter would catch.
u can see it in between the IM and the valve cover..

naw..lol it just a maintenance longetivity (sp?) thing... it was a old car.. i was tryin to keep it running as good as it was for as long as possible. But it did help idle problems i had. That filter costs about 7$.. i think..

Mything is manufactures base motors off Vaccum lines, and them running proper. And messing that up will hurt alot more than most think. If you go to the V, or any meet, u will hear and notice most mildly modded cars never idle right. Just a personal thing...i was given this speech by a old OG mechanic.. and it stuck to me...

it helps tho dont get me wrong.. give it a try... and after a few weeks or a month, u will see the filter full of all kind of sludge that was stopped from goin back in ur motor. and u can easily open it up, and clean it out...an dchange the filter inside every so often.

The guy was wrong about blow off valves. He simply provided a link showing that they can hurt the engine IF it is installed wrong, which speaks for a lot of parts. They're not super performance pieces, but they do prevent compressor surge. Also, I think a small wing can be pretty clean, even if the car doesn't get to "wing worthy speeds".

^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle

personally, i love my HIDs. seeing that half the cars coming out nowadays have them factory that are just as bright as mine i dont see the issue.

and i have a skunk2 dual bend STS and im sure its not good for DD'ing, but i dont see it as one of the worst mods you can do. just my .

yes there is i've heard of many stories, like canecorso, of STS breaking when you are trying to shift hard to win that last race...maybe not the last race, but i heard they break lol

i also agree w/ deeaone...i've seen factory cars w/ factory HIDs in halogen housing w/ the same 'glare' thats always sh*tted on by others so IMHO stfu about HIDs in halogen housing..if factories do it..then i will too..not to mention i can see way better

Name one manufactor that has done it. I can tell you at least 2 cars that the halogen style lense but those are designed specificly for HID's. The gen 2 Acura TL and half of the Mercedes from '98-'02. But here's the kicker, Mercedes offer 2 different parts numbers for the vehicles with and without HID's, here's your proof http://www.mbpartswarehouse.com/part...668+11921+9217

That was specificly the '96-'99 E class headlights (W210 chassis). Do you really think that DOT will allow an auto maker to sell a vehicle with HID's having a scattered light pattern? There's a certain limit it has to be within. If it don't meet the standards, it can't sold with that vehicle unless done aftermarket, and even then it's probably still illegal.

Looks can be very decieving. That volvo lense was designed for HID. If you were to park that car against a wall and study and compare your light to it's, you'd notice immediately that the light pattern is way more controlled than yours. Just because it "looks" the same doesn't mean it is.

I've owned both on many cars/race cars, never seen one break personally unless you are slamming gears..which is pointless anyway.

Okay everyone. Pull your cars to the wall and study your light output.

Honestly. Who gives a flying fatwomans ass?

All this thread is is a reason for people to rant about something. If you don't like fake HID's, don't buy em. If you don't like STS's, don't get one and if you don't want a larger fuel rail......you guessed it, don't buy one. But if I want them i'll get em. My car, my choice.

I personally think it's rice for someone to add to an article about someones hatred of rice with their own interpretations of rice. Lot's of rice there.
