    Default 14psi....How much power?

    I'm bored at work and was just wonderin if anyone could guess how much power I can make with this setup

    If you think anything will work better than what I am doing then feel free to say so

    b16a
    stock bottom end other than 8.5:1 compression pistons
    stock head
    AEBS IM
    Short ram
    Spoolin Performance manifold
    t3 turbo-.60 trim
    Tial 38mm WG w/ 14psi spring
    Precision 650hp intercooler
    2.5" or 3" DP
    Converted to OBD-1 w/ phearable.net ecu and obd-1 dizzy
    UR lightweight flywheel
    Precision injectors 770cc??
    walbro 255lph or 190lph
    greddy type s BOV

    I am wanting to make 350hp or whatever I can on 14lbs

    What does everyone think I can make with that setup?

    im going to say high 200's


    stock head is going to hold it back.........get some cams and a P&P

    8.5cr is to low, go with 9.5cr!!! a lil more power and has better street manners

    i think your stock bottom end will pop well before your power goal

    your changing your pistons to lower comp to run more boost but your bottom end is stock is retarded, you might as well keep the same b16 compression pistons so u can get a better hp number out of it on lower lbs of boost since u have a stock bottom end

    The guy that had the car before me had already put the low compression pistons in it

    It might be higher than 8.5 but the compression test told me it was 127-127-127-127. Which is low as fawk compared to stock.

    I already have an ls block that I am going to bored to a 2.0 and fully build when I get my tax money

    that low compression is going to make ur goal nearimpossible at that boot level with that turbo. id guess about 270. get some gsr cams too.

    Why d*ck around w/ the B16 anyway? Put your time/energy/effort into your 2L build. Sell the B16 crap and u won't have to wait for tax time.

    stock rods and crank are good for about 400hp

    hmmm Before VTEC i'd say 150whp, after.........chirp, brun through 1,2nd gear, grind 3rd, say "oh sh!t VATAAK KICKED IN YO", then you end up in 1988.

    thats all ive ran so far (3 blocks total) and have embarrassed a SH!T load of people with "fast" cars. Last time i checked i still had the #1 spot on the 13.0-13.9 second list in the kills forum an di havent ran my car in almost 3 years. but yeah, let me run the b16 and yawl do ur 1.8 and 2.0 blocks. Thats probably the only thing that i chose to do and ppl havent permanently copied.

    i'm pretty sure because its harder to make the b16 reliable opposed to the b18c1...or b18 period

    This car was turbo when I bought it on 10psi untuned and I rode like that for a little while and then put it back N/A and I had ZERO problems with it

    The only reason for the 2.0 build is to have some more torque and just to do it lol

    i have a theory about the subject of torque as far as my car goes. when im done putting my car together and run it ill post it and tell yawl what it is. might be my secret to going fast. lol!! but i am serious though.

    i had a completely stock b16a on 8psi and it made 270 on 93 pump gas but i stayed almost 7 hours on a dyno tuning that bit then i traded it like a dumpass. go ahead get ur self some arp headstuds and that b16 will wake ass trust me my 3rd boost car and my b16 was my favorite for now.

    id say around 250-300 depending on build and as stated b4 you need at least a 9:0:1-9:5:1 cr for better power while driving in vacume under normal driving. and with that stroke id say you can run a little bigger turbo but sounds great and good luck. also go with the 255lph pump incase you want more later,and you will,be sure to get it tunned though and report back with the numbers so we can see who was closest,lol.

    bigger turbo on a smaller stroke engine (77mm ersus the gsr 87 and the ls's 89) would make the turbo spool even later causing him to have a useless powerband. i had a 3 mill hks headgasket on my stock b16 and it drops u to 8.5:1 and it kinda sucked when not in boost.

    but yeah, i forgot about the 255 pump. he said the car was boosted b4 so it should have one already.

    yes as stated in the honda acura bible by mike kojima a b16 can spool slightly bigger turbos because of its higher rpm breathing capabilities and its faster quinch head and a shorter stroke and almost perfect rod to stroke ratio. allowin for longer dwell at top dead center therefore breathes better without power robbing overlap,in wich turbos do not like.

    Oh I totally agree - if you have a B16 to work with then work with it... but if you have a 2.0L build and a B16 at the same time, the B16 should automatically become the backup block if your goals are peak power potential if they are both VTEC builds.     Thanks for the input guys. I'm not trying to rush things because I want everything to be right before I got to get it tuned. I have been piecing together my kit for a couple of months but now I am moving so I have to save some money. WWhen I am done with the 2.0 build it should be a beast. I was going to ride around with the b16 turbo for a while and then I can feel the difference in the 2.0 block.

    The guy before me had everything rigged up alabama style lol

    Stock header with a pipe going under the crossmember back up to the turbo to look like a top mount with some crazy welds, untuned, ****ty BOV, and I'm pretty sure it had a stock fuel pump and had no bolt in the rear motor mount
    So all that stuff had to go after I ****ed around with it for a little while

    Another question....

    If I was to bored that b18b to a 2.0 what size pistons and such would I need?

    I want eagle rods and JE or CP pistons

    Hell I might even by a crank too

    Race engineering(where I will buy my parts from)has a stroker kit for it but I just don't know much about boring and then stepping up the piston size. Any help would be appreciated

    to make a 1.8 n2 a 2.0 i think u have 2 get ur block sleeved. not sure what size piston that would b, maybe 84mm. ron @ race engineering SUX. he ripped me off 4 1 rodbolt. sold me the wrong size and wouldnt refund my money. eagle manufacturing dnt like him either.

    if you bored it to a 2.0 it would be a 84mm and sleeving would be a must! Im guessing you will make about 260-280. But hey you see what my heavy ass 4 door does with 228, im ready to ride in the sub 500whp 1800lb ef Would be much longer at all

    It seems like a better question is how long can I run twice as much boost as I should before my motor frags?

    14psi should be fine with a good tune and I'm building that other block anyway so I'm not worried about the b16 one

    original question was how much you can make broken down:
    1. stock b16 apprx 135whp
    2. low comp b16 apprx 125whp
    3. t3 7-10whp/lb of boost
    4. 14psi=100-140 whp over stock
    5. low boost b16 w/ 14psi on t3 turbo apprx 225-265whp. depending on the rest of the setup.

    more than likely it'll be in the range of 260-270whp...anything over that is great. however, stock pistons it won't last long at all.
