I thought this forum would be FILLED with threads like this one.
    Thankfully its not!

No car is perfect, each is built to satisfy a certain need.

You can throw numbers on paper, but no car can really be compared on paper.
    This is my take:

Imports: I have respect for them. It takes a lot of money, time and talent to build a good one. Any fool can go out, throw money and buy a fast car. Building one yourself is COMPLETELY different. That Supra I saw at the Varsity - hats off to that guy, that thing is a monster!

However, I'm not a fan of turbo-kitted cars that blow up in 2 years. Thats not what I'm talking about.

BMW M3 (E46): Boost that thing and make MAD power! Expensive parts though.
BMW M3 (E92): Classy car. I was on the list, but backed off when I remembered the first year nightmares with the S54. I didnt want to wait that long to get a car at MSRP either.
    BMW M6:
    What can I say, DROOL.

Subaru STI/mods: I dont know much about them but a 400HP AWD car is a force to reckon with! I HATE the boy-band looks but I think the performance of the car will compel me to overlook that and buy one eventually.

R35: Freakin kick-ass car. Uses an ass ton of technology to beat physics. My kinda car! Only problem is the specialized oil changes etc etc. Its still brand new so its hard to get, dealer mark-ups etc. I want one, and might have one- ~2011...lol

    Z06:
Straight-line, not much can touch it. Surprisingly great with the curves. MAD power. BIG BIG DISCOUNTS at the dealership. My drive-out price was thousands less than sticker, and this was in Nov.
Biggest con? God damn it, someone get the cops off the street!

Simply, I couldnt argue with a 500hp 3150lb car that came with a warranty

    Gallardo
: I've been in one - does that count?

Murcielago: I've seen one...thats about it

Saleen, C6R, C6RS, ZR1, etc etc - yea yea they cost 3 arms and 5 legs. FORGET IT!
You guys are comparing cars all over the board. WTF? You cant compare a 650k car to a $50k car. And NO, you cant go to a dealership and buy an M3 GTR that you can drive on the street.

Fight on! This is quite fun to read

Very well put sir. oh and the arguement earlier was if he could go to the dealer and ORDER one... so technically yes... But your answer shows you are an ACTUAL car enthusiast. I've seen the pics of your car. Thing is bad ass. No denying that.

Those things are ballin. They showed all of the new Mustangs that are out in a recent issue of Grassroots, some pretty badass specialized Mustangs are starting to come out for relatively low costs.

    Aren't the 500C's $125,000?

For that kind of change I'd buy a Z06 and still murder it. (assuming the FR500C has a 420hp cammer 5.0L engine according to my research- I could be wrong)

With that motor it is, but the base v8 is around 70k I think. Other companies have come out with better options for a lot less, just they aren't race ready.

I guess the 125k was for a race-ready FR500. I still don't see the cost justification. I like some fords, but I'm going with Chebby on this one.

Both are race ready, just different motors. I would have to say I remain a Ford loyalist when it comes to domestics though.

But to get back on topic, it's impossible and also retarded to say that either domestics or imports are better than the other. I personally would have to lean towards imports, but both have pros and cons. Domestics are generally extremely inefficient, but in a straight line they're gonna win. Overall domestics can't compete with imports on a track, but it goes both ways. Mustangs are becoming really common for Koni and other series, and the Corvette team has been dominating in LeMans. It really goes both ways, just depends on your personal preference(or downright ignorance when it comes to most) on which you will side with. Any true car enthusiast will recognize the pros and cons of both sides, so this argument is pretty much meant for the ricers vs. the rednecks.

wow just wasted 3 pages of my life..... what i can get out of thacker is that he has no life... he comes on to an import site just to bash imports..... dont get me wrong i love all cars the same.... all of which have pros and cons.... i had a 89 trans am that would run low 12s in the 1/4 mile but would drive str8 off a mountain in a mountain run..... my prelude will run low 15s but will make it down the mountain before the trans am hit the ground.... that is the great thing about cars every car has its pros and cons but it is what you make it.... and any true car "guy" will notice that....

There's a difference between "Rednecks", and people who own Domestics.

Domestics are just as competitive around the track and drag strip, so I will leave it at that to avoid having a biased opinion.

I like Imports, and I like Domestics. To continue this thread would be the equivalent to beating a dead horse.

I understand the difference, I'm just saying those are the people that will get into the retarded arguments about it.

    Well Car and Driver says:
What truly set the Fit apart was its handling — not a pretense of handling but the real deal, with springs and struts that allowed one gentle rebound and no more, the only car here that felt happy storming the switchbacks. We later confirmed this when the Fit sailed through our lane-change test 6 mph faster than anything else here — faster, in fact, than a Corvette Z06.

Maybe I should run against Thacker.

I mean if its 6 mph faster than a Z06, I pity the GTO.

all cars have their pros and cons, and you cant compare across classes. honda COULD have made the civic outhandle and outperform a zr-1, but they didnt because its a civic. it works that way no matter what car.

LOL at people saying one is better than the other.

My dad's camaro will rape any car of thackers and shep's dsm will rape any car of thackers and the AEM sponsored 6 second "civic" will rape any car of thackers. My car tuned would probably rape thackers car. He's not the shiit, get off his nuts whenever he shows us he has a small pee pee.

I don't understand why people still debate this crap. There are good cars from both camps.

    Domestic:
    Mustang
    Camaro
    Challenger
    SRT-4
    SS Cobalt
    SRT-8 Charger
GTO(Although really if you think about it it's an import with the heart of domestic)
    Corvette
    CTS-V
    Solstice GXP
    G8(same as the GTO)
    Sky Redline
    Ford GT

    Import:
    ITR
    S2000
    Civic SI
    NSX
    Supra
GTR(R33 IMHO is the best ever made despite the vast accomplishments of the new one)
    Silvia
    MR2
    Celica GT4
    TT
    R8
    S4
    S5
    A8
    R32
    GTI
    135i
    335i
    M3
    M6
    M5
    C63
    E(forget the number)AMG
    SL55
    CLK63
    SLK63

the list goes on and on. The point is there is no comparing one to the other because the cars are simply so different it's not even funny and their's no point. But if you want to compare certian ones then you can but like I said incredibly difficult.

the list goes on and on. The point is there is no comparing one to the other because the cars are simply so different it's not even funny and their's no point. But if you want to compare certian ones then you can but like I said incredibly difficult.
When did the mustang becaome a sports car?

The only mustang that matters is a Cobra.
I'm just that guy that spends all his time printing.... T-shirts, banners, vinyl, etc.

When did an SRT-4? or a Camaro? That list wasnt for "sports cars" The Mustang has never been classified as a "sports car" persay.

The only Mustang that matters is a Cobra? Matters in what? 1/4 mile times? Road racing? What? Top Ford cars in the Koni Challenge are S197s. Cobras are awesome, if we're talking about 03-04s.... is that what you are reffering to?

The whole entire argument between what is better, imports or domestics is stupid. Maybe 10-20 years ago, there would have been a clear and cut line, but FACE IT people, times have changed. Automotive tech, tuning, and advancements have come leaps and bounds above what it used to be.

You can take a turd box of a Honda and toss thousands of dollars at it, and it will become a nice/quick car. But face it, no matter how much you polish a turd, its still a turd. Not meaning to offend with that last comment, but this whole argument comes down to what cars handle well out of the box. In my opinion I think there are more imports that can rip domestics apart in most forms of motorsports, OUT OF THE BOX, however any car can be made to handle well/rip a quick 1320/ or tear up a lap record with enough money. But what I just said is my opinion. Ive owned imports and domestics, and I like both, even though Ive never ridden or driven in a Honda I liked, power wise thats for sure, and handling.

Not to mention, its dumb to compare cars from one country, to cars from every other country in the world.

Buy the car. Be happy with the strengths, but be willing to admit the weaknesses. Everybody ends up with good conversation instead of pointless bickering.

I dont know, I see where Thacker is coming from. This board is filled with people that will spout off,

"mustangs cant turn", "gtos cant turn" , " I can school your domestic at any road course", "my domestic will tear all imports a new one"

Its ignorant comments like that, that get threads like this going. Theres always someone faster then you, theres always someone with more money than you, but blanket statements about other makes and models will get you nowhere.

I get a kick out of the guy that says, "I beat a Mustang"..... do they even know how many makes/years/models/motors a Mustang is?!
