The Porsche 962 is a legendary car, having numerous Le Mans and IMSA wins to its name. The car was a sports-prototype racing car built by Porsche to replace the 956. It was introduced at the end of 1984 and quickly gained success through privateer owners. It is very rare that a 962 comes up for sale, nevermind one that has a tax disc!
This particular model has the honour of gaining the approval of 962 maestro Derek Bell, and was constructed between 2001 and 2005 by ex Sauber engineer Ernest Schlaepfe in New Zealand. The build cost was 2million dollars, and was built utilising an aluminium genuine IMSA chassis supplied by Porsche Le Mans winner Hurley Haywood.
The interior even has leather trimmed bucket seats with six point harnesses, a collapsible steering column and detachable Momo racing wheel. The body is the 'long tail' version in full carbon fibre. The quality of engineering and workmanship is second to none.
The car is fully road legal, coming with a valid UK V5 and MOT documents. The car is a barely disguised racing car for the road, and has to be the ultimate car to ever carry number plates and makes a Ferrari F40 seem quite sedate.
Investment wise, this car's value is only ever going to increase.
