I have been Honda/Acura for years and I'm thinking about going RWD now.
I am looking into buying my first 240 but I don't know enuff about them to make an informed decision. I tried looking around but I couldnt find all the info in one place.

What model years are more popular than others and why??
There's not a more popular year, necessarily... You have your s13 camps and your s14 camps.. usually s13 people are highschoolers/younger people because the s14's have gotten pricey as people realize that they, too, can be a do-rifto king
What is the differences in S13, S14, etc. etc....what do they mean? Are certain s13 things good or bad as well as s14s?
S13 - 89-94. Came in hatch and coupe models, as well as pignose and sharknose fronts. SOHC and DOHC engines (KA24E and KA24DE, respectively) You want pics, google.
S14 Zenki - 95/96... rounded headlights, only came in a coupe, pretty sure that they only came with the DOHC engines (KA24DE). Came in base model and SE models. SEs had 5 lug wheels, better audio, nicer interior stuff, and sometimes a limited slip. However, you can get a base model that has every option that the SE model has, minus the 5 lug.
S14 Kouki - 97/98, the last USDM 240 that was made. Angular front, nicer taillights, but that's about the only difference. Same deal goes with the engines and base model vs SE models... good luck finding one of these for under $7000.
I see engines that are red tops and black tops...what is the diff?
The JDM SR20 engines come in red top and black top models... I believe the blacktop ones are newer, and are out of JDM S14 and S15 cars, whereas the redtop engines are out of s13's. I could be wrong. Google it. Either way, this is a JDM only engine, and despite all the hype it gets, it's not all that great.
I see different engines ...SR this and that...is there a difference like Hondas are VTEC or not? Difference in torque like B16, B17, B18, etc?
SR20s are actually going to have lower basemap torque than the KA24 that comes in the USDM cars. The KA24 is a 2.4L motor, the SR20 is a 2.0L motor. To make up for that, they slapped a factory turbo on it. Nissan doesn't have anything like VTEC.. they just put factory turbos on. But there's no way to slice that a KA24 has more displacement than an SR20. WHEN BUILT CORRECTLY (but no one ever does), KA24 turbos can be sicknasty.
I see some engines are DET and others aren't...?
An SR20DE came in Nissan Sentra SpecV's, among other cars. Just a 2.0L naturally aspirated motor. The SR20DET is the turbo.. DET = DOHC Turbo.. like you have an RB25DET, which is a 2.5L DOHC inline 6 turbo out of an R33 skyline.
And finally, What the hell is a kouki???
Just a body generation...like saying EG vs EF for hondas.
And PS... QD will endlessly ream you for having a 240, but they are fun little cars..
