Ok now that I am finally making a good bit of money I have decided that it's time for me to get a new project and keep the 3G around for a backup when needed.Whatever I get I need to be able to DD it with little to no problems while still being able to do mild mods. I want to get into something boosted but still get halfway decent gas mileage(for comparisson I'm averaging 22mpg/300 per tank in my v6 3G). I picked these three for the following reasons
300ZX-TT V6 18/24mpg, very sexy, 300hp
2G GST-I miss my old 2G, 4G63 FTW
, 23-31mpg
MKIV GTI-Very good looking cars, german reliability, I drove one 2 years ago and can still remember the smile it put on my face.
Now obviously each will have its draw backs
300ZX-expensive and hard to work on
2G GST-Possibility of crankwalk
MKIV-Aftermarket stuff is expensive from what I have seen
Now if I were to get either of the first two I would probably get one with a straight body, interior, and high miles and have the motor rebuilt and freshened up. At this point I'm just kind of wondering which way would probably be the more cost effective route to go. I would really love to get a 300ZX but the GST and the GTI just seem to make more sense. And out of those 2 I'm really leaning more towards the GST simply because I could get it quicker and the GST from what I understand it is cheaper and easier to work on.
If anybody knows what it would cost to get the motors rebuilt on the GST or 300ZX please chime in or if you have a reccomendation on where to take it that would be nice also(thinking top speed on the GST and Z1 on the 300ZX)
Just wanted to get some outside opinions and have people throw info at me I may not be aware of.
