Thread: wastegate dumptube

    Default new-wastegate dumptube question

BACK FROM the grave-New question about dumptube!!

i have an open dumptube now,i cant stand the way it sounds after i hit 7psi and still at 4k waiting to shift..as some people says farting sound.
besides the sound,it feels like im loosing power when wastegate opens.?

will i gain anything having it ran back into the exhaust or just lose the 'farting'sound?

also if i attach it,its gonna be lopped around the IC pipe.AC lines..so kinda there perminatly after it gets welded from the bottom to downpipe..problems?

you wont hear it at all at idle... unless you dont have a spring. And you wont be making enough power for it to really matter, you can run it back into the exhaust. It will be loud open dump, only when it opens. I like it, some dont.

but no with all serious, i just wanted to get peoples input. to see if ill have more work to do to find more piping and weld the dumptube to downpipe,,but since it wont make any difference thatl save me some money and time just leaving it how the tube is now.

I've run open, I've run closed........................ I'll take closed anyday.

If you're not maxing out the capacity of your exhaust you're not going to gain anything but noise with an open dump. It's a little more work to run a recirc'd WG, but the effort is worth it if you want your car to sound good/quiet. You can recirc your dump in a location and angle that will actually increase the efficiency of the exhaust as well as keep it quiet.

I like the way open-dump sounds when the waste gate opens.
