    Default Turbo Question (Integra LS-T)

    I'm new to the game.

Just boosted my 94 integra LS with t3/t4 garrett 60 trim (At tunning i found out that the turbo is crap and needs to be rebuilt - learned lesson 1: Don't buy "rebuild" turbos from idiots on IA)

Well, i am looking for a turbo now and I found a turbonetics with these stats:
    T3 50 trim / F1-49 .48 A/R (Guy not sure if its a 50 or 60 trim, so lets just say 50)

Would this turbo get me to my goal - 220-230 hp

or should i just get another t3/t4 turbo?

Is there anyway of really testing used turbos for shaft play before you buy them? This one scraps the wall when spinning and burns off oil (the one i have on my car now) Also need a new manifold - Well, Just trying to get this thing back on the road so i can enjoy it.

I was so disappointed when i picked it up from Scotty @ Mainstream performance - He did an awesome job but because of the condition of the turbo he could only run it with 4 psi (making 152hp )

    Thanks for the advice,

You should get a garrett gt2860rs, a badass Full-race turbo mani, Skunk2 intake manifold, and then you should buy my brand new Skunk2 68mm throttle body for $200. haha. Lmk.

if you are on a budget... and apparently you are, because you are buying used turbos... you can find t3/t4's on ebay for 150 brand new... i would stick with the t3/t4 instead of the straight t3 because that turbo is a hybrid for a reason... lower spool of the t3 and higher power of the t4...

the turbo was so bad that it would shoot sparks out of the compressor inlet while it was trying to spool. needless to say it wouldn't really spool b/c of that.

you can test for shaft play. a good used turbo will have ever so slight, but should never bump the housing.
