If the car has a good tune and is running right what would not make it streetable? I don't think you understand that the power comes on at like 5k + on most big turbo cars and you never reach that driving around town. You don't want to floor it every chance you get but its certainly doable.
Ok, let's say that it "could" be streetable. Would you want to daily drive it? Have you driven or even rode in a car that was as tempermental as a built up car? Crappy idle, harsh clutch and driveline snatch from upgrades and poor gas mileage. Why?

EDIT: Why would one want to run that kind of car on the street especially if most cars on high boost turned down for the street will more than likely need run on race gas? That's a waste of good race gas for bragging rights.

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.

I beg to differ, when i run low boost i can run on regular gas, i have done it. I have a twin disk in my car, with a full roll cage, i have driven my car to work sitting in downtown traffic before and it didnt bother me one bit,I guess if your not used too or own something that is built you wouldnt know the diffrence, why build a car too let it sit in the garage?

I have taken my car out on a friday night with a full tank of c16 race gas, money is money, but when u smoke the **** out of a v8 thats priceless!!!

Very true. I guess to each is own. Have you thought of running dual tanks? One for C16 and 1 for regular?

My buddy runs the dual gas tanks. Here's his car. He's a member here BTW

The car has since been converted to a 5 speed (again) and a few other upgrades I'm not allowed to say. This car also gets 25mpg as well.

this car kinda scares me. how does a car that small get traction at all through any gear with that much done to the motor? what kind of car is this by the way? i wouldn't want to take that anywhere but the strip. very impressive to say the least, but I think what it all boils down to is, many of these cars are street legal. its just a matter of how street worthy they are. taking something like that out on the road everyday is asking for a hole in your wallet.

Have you ever seen any of my cars? YOU are the one with a 626 remember.

Every project I have is "built up". BUT with the right tune on different maps you CAN make a car with big cams and huge injectors get good mileage if you wanted to. I always have daily driver but if I didn't it wouldn't be hard to tune the Haltech in the Porsche and get 25+ mpg and have a perfect idle. When you are spending 2 grand on management and a tune it should do what you tell it to. The only thing you can't change is the clutch. Unless you are a big vag that doesnt bother you much either.
