Had a friend who had one at one point.

Pretty nice car, in and out. Power isn't all that is should be, considering it comes with the "SE-R" badge, which is should be totally diffrent from its original design. With some bolt on's it can get alittle quicker, but nothing too impressive. My friend had an cold air intake, test pipes, and a catback.

Car sounded pretty cool, but the power wasn't enough to beat an altima 3.5se five speed. With the same bolt on's. The car handles also handles pretty damn good, on stock tires its pretty good, but add some kdw's and you have a nice handling fwd.

What is it that the SE-R has that grabs your attention?

i like how you see very few on the street. im not looking for a very fast car, anything over 250 hp is enough to keep me content. i think they look extremely clean. i love the S5 grill on them. and they are very reasonably priced.

Thats true, you don't see to many of them. They're nice man, I like them. But about that 250 horsepower thing, stock they make about 210-220whp. And like 230wtq. Thats what nissanperformancemag got, and what my friend got as well. Still though, nice car all around. I like it in red.

    Believe it.

The five speed is just better, the car was lighter. Ask 3.5altman, he's the one who raced him.

all things equal (Driver) ser should have pulled. i have never had a 5 spd 3.5 alt hang with me driving a ser unless i ****ed up a gear

*edit didnt mean the ser completely blew a reg alt out the water, but its clear the ser is faster, though not by a whole lot

    Maybe.

It could also have to do with mods. The altima that beat him was an older model (02-03).

damn. that must have been a quick 3.5se.
210 whp is still most than my last two cars crank hp. so i dont think ill be missing out. the only thing im worried about is i heard it has mad torque steer.

Oh the altima was modded and the ser not? I could see a intake/exhaust 3.5 taking a ser, the rated hp diff between them is only like 10hp. but the ser supposed to have better gearing.

but yea, for the orignal post lol se-rs are very nice, semi-rare (just dont see a lot of them) but a 3.5 altima 5spd would be a viable choice too :P

Both had the SAME mods. And im sure the six speed is better at city driving, but on the hwy, the five speed has a better sweet spot than the 6. Longer gears are better than shorter, especially when they have almost the same HP.

SE-R is not that much faster if any. It was like a 10hp bump and again to the front wheels. Better tires will help with the launch. Everything was cosmetic pretty much, 18" wheels, red added to the interior, smoked tails, different lower front bumper etc. Its good looking stock.

However has anyone driven a 3.5 Altima? Torque steer galore and they handle pretty sloppy. They are VERY quick though, the VQ engine is a beast in all those NIssans. Its a very swift car, especially once up and running.

SE-Rs have a great presence - they are outstanding cars. However, if you're smart you can save money buy purchasing a 3.5se and making it look like one (Without adding the SE-R badges)

If you purchase an 05 SE you'll only need a few cosmetic parts, 02-04 Require an 05-06 Hood

You won't have the 6speed the dash or the colored leather but you don't need it.

the se-r is like 150 lbs heavier than a 3.5 with the special seats and trim, otherwise basically the same, maybe tuned a bit more aggressively
