Default Dont want your car stolen?? ~~TIP~~

Ok, my dad gave me this idea. He did it with his 60's Vette (in the 60's). he ran a switch for his fuel pump behind his seat. So if some1 tried to start his car, it would run (well, his car was carb so it'd run for a min).

But think, you can put all the alarms on your car, but they know how to get by them. Run a switch or a fusable link somewhere that you can get ahold of fairly easy but for the bad guys to figure out.

just a tip for you honda/acura guys that keep having problems and are afriad of ur baby gettin stolen.

nothing beats the tow trucks though........

do ppl really try that hard to steal inexpensive cars? no offense honda guys, but it seems like if i was gonna actually tow a car to steal it it would have to be something more worthwhile... like a bmw or something REALLY high-dollar...

good thing nobody wants my car. i leave my doors unlocked and usually my windows open (hint hint theifs....)

id probably pay somebody 10 bucks to steal my car.

Exactly - nobody steals mustangs because they grow on trees and the motor can't be sold for $2k all day every day, and swapped into a civic hatch in under 2 hours.

You know, a Ford inertia switch works just fine for me. Best kill switch by far, and even then, it's not very ovious on where I keep it at.

In other news, by homeboy had his EG hatch stolen from the club courtesy of a tow truck. When he got it back, it was basicly a rolling frame

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.

It's a catch 22...every time you teach someone how to protect their car someone is now learning how to steal one.

There are at least 3 or 4 things that can be done in a weekend to help prevent your car from driving off without you BUT as more and more people add switches and do various things like that the more frequently thieves simply snatch it with a roll back from a public place...normally with faux repo paperwork in hand.

The NUMBER ONE very best protection is a GPS locator, $500 or so plus $10-15+ p/month to know where your car is at all times is nothing. No problems spending $500 on wheels/tires right? stereo/speakers $500+, suspension $500+, carbon fiber parts $500, engine swap $1,000-4,000+, etc. etc. etc. Yeah, it's $500 you can't show off...WHO CARES!! SPEND THE MONEY ON A LOCATOR, PERIOD.

Very true I dont care if you stolen how many car, lots of theives get caught red handed because of the GPS Locator. The only theives that get away with it is the one who know how to disable or destroy a gps locator and trust me it's the most intricate piece of equipment you'll ever see. You would have to be a serious tech guru or someone that work for a GPS company to do it.

Or go buy an illegal EMP bomb and blow every circuit in the surronding vacinity to do it but you'd be lookking at ohh in the millions.

First you'd have to know it's there, second you'd have to find it to even be able to destroy it...or throw it in the back of a random truck

Most stolen vehicles are parked somewhere so they can sit for a week to make sure they aren't "hot" and that's why so many are found in apartment complexes days later still mostly intact.

Get the locater and you'll have peace of mind 24 hours a day, there are so many features available it will blow your mind...you can set an alert on some with a timer for instance if the car moves between say 11pm and 7am it will alert you. You can bring up a map just like mapquest, draw a box, and if the car ever leaves said box it will alert you. For parents a speed alert can be set, for example if the car travels 80mph for more than 2 minutes then it can alert you. Alerts can either be by e-mail or by phone with a cell service plan on the locater. This technology has been available for YEARS and at a reasonably low cost.

theres nothing wrong with a turbo civic, but it just seems to me that a more expensive car would be more desireable and more frequently stolen.

Mentioned in a previous post. The parts issue. Customer base. How fast do you think those parts on said turbo civic are going to move, rather than on a M3? Thieves don't want to have **** laying around for long. Enough stolen hondas can add up quick as well. I was shocked to hear that even a 1990 toyota camry is on the top list of stolen cars.

The Camry's been at the top of the list for years and years because its so easy to get into and can easily be started with a screwdriver in seconds...free car for the night and it's not exactly an attention grabber to get caught driving around in.

probably also because theres so many on the road, there is probably a high demand for parts.
