Hello Mike!
i agree, with tien, rays, single, etc... BUT i would like to have a 2nd gen style for the GS, and im not to concerned with making 500hp... a stock motor, with a few bolt-ons is fine with meOriginally Posted by Mr. KiDD
yes, i have noticed that!!!! lolOriginally Posted by Jaimecbr900
in your opinion, if i could find a dicent priced car with good miles, could i put a turbo kit on it and still be ok as far as durability? i know its the same block, but would i be looking at headaches down the road with a kit?
I'll tell you what I've seen and what's happened with mine.Originally Posted by Jimmy B
My observation is that the motor and drivetrain will hold, AS LONG AS you don't go ape shit with it. Mine's been running 8-9 psi, 400+ WHP, DD, for over 3 yrs. I drive it everyday, pump gas, SAFCII and that's it. Yeah, I beefed up the tranny and put in an LSD and a bunch of other suspension stuff, but the internals of my motor are all stock. Put bigger injectors and that's it, motorwise.
As for the GS3's....The tranny is different than mine, so I'm not certain what it can and can't hold. I'd suspect that it would be about the same or close to it. I know the motor will hold far more boost than mine though. Again, all within moderation. Remember that if you go too crazy with the boost, you will have to upgrade a ton of other things too....ie. $$$$.
It sounds like you don't want to go nuts. If that's correct, what I would do is get the car first. You can then put in a simple single turbo setup, that will probably put you right at 300 at the wheels without breaking too much of a sweat or the bank. If you want to go a lot more than that, then you will have to start thinking about $$$.
My car has been very reliable and I'm not worried about driving it anywhere. I've driven mine all over the place, race it, drive it hard......and then just drive it back home with all the comforts of any stock GS. That's what I wanted. I didn't set out to set land speed records. I wanted something reliable and quick enough to keep me happy. So far so good. Only problem is that boost is like crack. Once you get a taste for it, usually only more will do.![]()
