    i just came across this on ebay. 86 Volvo 740 turbo wagon with an interesting swap...

    This is an exceptional car that out-accelerates and out-handles current stock Mustang GT's. I would bet this can run neck-and-neck with '90s vintage Corvettes. It is the ultimate sleeper, but with the dual stainless steel exhaust system, it is quite evident there is something special under the hood, but it is not loud or offensive... sounds like a stock Vette or Mustang.

    NOPE-

    can run with a stock gt? if your definition of "ultimate sleeper" is a 14 second car, then sure... older model corvettes are slower than rocks rolling uphill.

    outhandling a mustang? NO WAI!!!! thats crazy seeing as how mustangs are known for not having good susp at all.

    it is interesting, and does have potential, but it is by now means the ultimate sleeper now.

    QFT. Also how about an 87 Regal Limited with the 3.8 Turbo V6. Wire wheels, pillow top upholstery and a nice vinyl roof. All the better to do 12's on Friday night and for Grandma to drive to church on Sunday.

    Yeah that 5.0 Volvo is sick. I'd drive it. Paul Newman used to do these swaps back in the 80's in these wagons.

    Best sleeper ever was an Evo 4g63 swapped into an '80s Mitsubishi Mirage hatch, looked totall stock from the outside, you could hardly see the FMIC.

    There was a twin charged tibby at nopi. Looked completly stock on the outside and it had an air to water ic. Not the fastest car in the world, but it would suprise the hell out of most cars.

    Yah. That is a "common swap" into the Volvo. Companies make kits with new motor mounts etc so you can easily do the swap.

    It is a "sleep" but not the "ultimate sleeper".

    Meh, 1 of the bigger sleepers is a Pontiac Fiero with a LS1 in it. I've actually seen a Fiero with a LT1 turbo in the back of it...I think it had somewhere around 400 hp and it looked stock on the outside.

    I like the TT LS1 Volvo. Either way it is a kick ass sleeper. I think ZUL8R has a kick ass sleeper.
