    Really who cares? If it works it works, if the added compression and 150k rpms it's spinning blows the welds off then it happens BUT at least he's experimenting and seeing what works and what doesn't, you think the original builder of turbo's, engines, or anything else ever built didn't experiment like this? I'm sure if he could send the modded setup to a shop and have it duplicated with a more solid & perfectly balanced version.

    I mean, it's not like he painted his rotors or anything

    Wow... Uhhh, that's interesting, I suppose.

    His turbo sounds like a turbo that has extensive shaft play. I wonder if the added fins caused severe misbalance to the assembly (As previous stated)? That's probably what is causing the noise.

    it soulds like the shaft is about to fly apart. I'm sure it lost power as well. adding more fins would most likely reduce the flow of exhaust gasses past the real fins, and adds weight to the rotating mass, which would cause slower spool anyway.
