    Default turbo recommendation?

Okay, so...I have a supercharger for my car that I haven't installed yet, I've been waiting to get cams before I install it, I've been thinking recently though about piecingtogether my own turbo kit, and I was wondering what kind of turbo you guys think would be best for my application...I'm lookin for 15 PSI, absolute tops. It's on a 2.0, 4 cylinder, and I'm hoping to get somewhere in the 280-300 WHP range.

    reps for info.

GT3255E or GT3257E. T3 flange, they are non ball bearing GT series, but use new technology 360 degree journal bearing. They are capable up to 400hp or more, fast spool and still have great top end. Very good turbo for street and oc track.

A GT2871 should do it. Someone actually has a gt28 for sale on here I believe.

Spoolin, I see you lookin...how bout some input man?

another note on the GT28xx series, I knew a guy a while back that had one on a GSR that was reaching peak boost around 3k RPM, could I expect similar results with something along the lines of a 2871 48 trim 60A/R?

Are you moreso concerned about spool time? (going by the other turbos that are brought up)
You said you are looking for 280-300whp, which in most cases won't require 15psi (depending on the turbo).
My 1st suggestion of a 60-1 came from me building a kit on a RSX-S using a cast manifold and 60-1. I never got to dyno it, only street tuned, but the car absolutely ripped topend (after about 4k)

what are you looking as far as HP, powerband, driving wise? 15psi can be ran on any turbo.

if you just want a fast spooling turbo, anything small.

psi gets thrown around a lot now. Psi doesn't mean really mean anything unless you put a turbo before it

I think a 60-1 is a little bit too much turbo for him especially if he's only looking for 280-300 whp

And it could be...it really depends on his driving style and what he plans on doing with the car.
The 60-1 is on the big side, but the K has no problem spooling it. It is a little laggy, which has it's pros and cons (more pros than cons IMO).
The turbo is sellection is like injector selection...it's better to have a little more than you need. Just how long ill you be happy with 280-300whp before it starts to feel slow??
GT28 and 35s would do great, they are also up there in $$ quit a bit. He could possibly be happy with a T3/T4 57 trim w/ a .63AR...or a T3/T4 60 trim, both would spool fairly easy and have the potential of making his power goals + some.

Very very true But then he's gonna have to worry about building the motor and that's when most people just say fuck it haha....

Why don't u just stick with the supercharger??? You dont really need cams unless u want to put some serious cams on there??? But if u do the turbo the guy is right 15 psi can be ran on any turbo.

Sorry for the slow response guys, but thanks for the input. The main difference in my k20 and type S K20 is only I have lower compression, and my block lacks oil squirters. I have the type S head on my car already. I'm looking for a good balance between quick spool and good power. I don't want to go too apeshit as this is still my DD. As far as racing is concerned, drag racing isn't really my thing, I'm more interested in getting into Time Attack/ Road racing types of things. The reason for the 280-ish goal is simply this, the K20A3 bottom end tends to go to shit quickly once you press it past about 300 HP, also, like I said, it's still a DD. Most guys are pushing my goals around 10-12 PSI, I was just using the 15 PSI as an upper estimation and a way to make sure I won't get something, then push it out of it's efficiency range if I were to decide to crank the boost a little and run some race fuel once in a while. Also, My redline [once tuned] will be ~7800 so, I'd like to make my powerband as fat as possible...as far as keeping the S/C...the hoenst reason is, I drove one with the kit I have that's already been installed and I just wast impressed.

    sorry for the novel.

For roadracing, I'd actually look into a T3/T4 50 trim .63 A/R (it's a bit small...but). You'll have a HUGE powerban on a K series. The turbo should be good to around the 375-400whp range, and will spool very quick.

Thanks. You definately seem like a knowlegable guy, and you've been a serious help. The hybrids are externally gated, right? This is my second turbo build, but the first time I just used a junkyard internally gated setup, and this time I would really like to go about it the right way, using quality parts.

    NP, just trying to help.

    External gate.
    I'd definately use a Tial 38mm wastegate.
