Mike's request was definitely not outlandish and is certainly not indicative of a ricer mentality since handicaps are nothing new to the world of sports and competition.
Regarding racing outside of your performance envelope, that's cool. Totally fine. However, don't call someone a ricer b/c they don't mind running outside their performance envelope. Some people want to know if they've got enough power to pull on another car from a gear down or whether they can get another car from a dig on street tires. If you aren't down with that, that's totally FINE, just don't act like it makes the other person a ricer b/c it doesn't.
With your last statement, you highlighted the essence of a ricer - putting ridiculous amounts of money into looking fast instead of actually being fast. Does mike have a bodykit on his car? NO. Does he have a spoiler? NO. Does he have a $5000 paint job on a $2000 car? NO. How does he fit the ricer mentality at all?
He's got way more under the hood than on the paint/body of his car, and yet you people insist on calling him a ricer? Where's the sense in that, unless you are just looking to start drama by being rude without any reason for being so. You guys are just adding to the definition of a ricer at your own convenience in order to goad people. Then you stand back and act like the person had no reason for getting riled up.
I don't judge anyone based on what car they drive. If someone with a slower car wants to run me from 40mph but asks that I start in 3rd, I'm not going to call them a ricer. I'll either say, OK let's do it, or politely decline. I could decline like a douchebag, calling them ricer, this, that, or the other, but that's not how I am. Maybe I'm just too laid back about these things.
If you guys are going to start with calling Mike a ricer, don't be surprised when similar exaggerations are pointed in your direction. By the FACTS, Mike is no more of a ricer than Bstone's s2000 is god's chariot.
In this particular case, Mike is just responding to the drama that other people created with their own stretched-truth statements about him (ricer, etc). Mike & Aaron worked out the terms to a run, so that's that. I don't see the point in everyone else jumping on Mike's ass. The run has been setup according to terms agreeable to both parties. No need to keep spinning drama at this point.
