Default Have you ever stopped to add up all the money you spend on your car?

    It's kind of depressing.

I just got to thinking about it. I spent $23,000 in my Integra over the 2 years I modded it. This isn't including the cost of the actual car. With paint, transmission, motor, turbo kit, fuel system, blah, blah, blah...

Now, with the Z06, I've spent $14,000+ in the past 5.5 months.

I could have a really, really, really nice turbo Viper/Corvette sitting in my garage. =|

How much have you spent on your car(s)? Was it worth it? Looking back, what would you have done differently? Do not include the price of the car.

Me too. I'd go back to driving a stock Integra LS and saving every bit to blow it on a turbo C6Z/Viper.

I wouldn't feel as bad as blowing as much money on different cars.

It seems that's how it always works. It's like you work and work to get it where you want it, and after it's done, you're ready to move on.

The polished CCWs were already on the car. I just bought another set of CCWs.

do i really want to put myself through the agony of tallying it all up?? not really.

bad enough its down... it would hurt alot more to calculate all the flow thats gone into it....

but if i had to guestimate....

30k+ and thats not including the car. if we include the car... 63K+

Yup. It hurts more when it's not running.

So, answer the other questions... was it worth it? What would you have done differently?

I'm kind of getting the urge to buy a bike. But then again, I don't want another depreciating asset.

I buy all my parts used. I have about 12K in my car right now, but if I bought all new parts it'd be around 25K.

    New car:
    95 S14 with RB25DET (stock boost)

    Old car:
    Turbo S2000 400hp/285tq on 9:1 comp & 11psi

Paying for it isn't the problem. I've spent enough on my Corvette to hold me over for a bit. It's kind of an eye opener.

I knew I would never buy a stock car again because it's all just money that's lost. That's why I was particular when buying the Z. I wanted someone else to spend the money on the mods, heh.

    The previous owner bought:
    $4,500 CCWs w/ tires
    $3,800 Caravaggio seats
    $4,100 system
$1,200 clear bra (Worth every penny, btw)
    $1,500 headers installed
    $1,000 HID installed
    $2,100 C6Z06 brake upgrade
    $450 intake installed

I have a few more plans for it but I'm pretty happy with it right now. Cold A/C, reliable, mildly quick and a decent head turner.

    hmmmm was it worth it?

yes and no... i wish i would have had some more patience and did it right from the beginning. been through so many setups... shops... i could have saved at least 10K if i had been smarter.

but when its running, and i feel the boost... it makes all the bs go away. the only thing i think about behind the wheel is if a cop just saw me gun it...

the way i look at it...

yes i spent a shitload... but in the end.. i still would rather own and drive my IS over an e46 M3.

    Alas....

I have looked at how much I have/am spending on my car........

Most of the time I try not to think about it. lol.

However, as Dan said, when I am in the car and under boost, it makes everything okay.

Thats what gets me through my days now, knowing that feeling is going to be back in tenfold soon...

But yea, adding up everything you have spent is a bad idea. lol. Its always more than you can justify.

Yeah I would not do it again at all, If I wanted another car like what I have, I will just buy one that is already done for half the price!
    I regret most of it!

The first 3 weeks I had my car I spent $5000 on it, Wheels, Paint, and the basic upgrades!

I have been through 4 TH400's, to conversion kits for the tranny, the single turbo kit, 2 fuel systems, I got scammed on one and thats a long drawn out battle. The Cage and so on....

Im looking at hitting $65000+ with car, and I dont make good money either!

I see it like this, if you got it you gonna spend it, so why add the shit up.

Everyone says they would invest there money and buy a house and blah blah, but after you have all that then what?
A bad ass car!! Where all young and dumb we made choices that we regret now,but at the end of the day its only money!!

I know i have spent well over 30k, do i regret it? Nope i have meet alot of cool people doing the same things i love to do, would i do it again?
Hell Yes!! When my car (IS) running and i feel that boost kick in, it brings a smile to my face.
But when its broken i hate the car, thats life and its only money, you got it spend it!!!

We should all be grateful that in are lifes we can spend so much money , just to bring a smile to are faces!!!

lol...just a number of things. The first builder screwed me over pretty bad and his Fab work was not right, I guess the trannies were no good. I was told these trannies were built and could hold up to 1500hp. They were stock trannies. I just had AAP rip all his crap out and put there kit in last week, that was $2400. Then I lost 2nd gear a day after I got it back. The reason I took it to them, was that I could only go into 3rd if I was at WOT and hauling. I would shift into 3rd but it would just stay in 2nd. I have to take it to them tomorrow, and we are thinking it might be the shifter that is screwing them up...but not sure!

Im not a Fabricator nor a mechanic, I just write the checks. I know what I need to know about how stuff works on a car, but when it gets internal I have no Idea. Im guessing he knew I didnt know a lot about what is what so he screwed me over pretty bad.

Thanks, its finaly getting straightend out. The Th400 is awesome when it is right. It destroys on and off the track. I raced a stang awhile back, and I over heard someone say, "Dude, the guy in the Supra wants to race from a dig... you'll kill him" I just laughed. I also had 325/50/15 mt et drag radials with skinnies up front that night. It was pretty funny off the line.

If you go with the TH just make sure the shop knows whats going on and has done it many times before. AAP's kit was like $1200+ thought that was pretty reasonable.

If you go with the TH just make sure the shop knows whats going on and has done it many times before. AAP's kit was like $1200+ thought that was pretty reasonable.
