Installed my hitch today and went for a lil tow session in the rain did awesome.... The truck has never towed in it's life so I'm impressed... The trailer had a lil weight on it but not much... After I get the wiring harness wired up on my truck ima tow the four wheeler and some other stuff

Well, to start, look around that area. What do you see? Air box, wires, motor mounts, brake cylinder. Heat deteriorates everything. Hot air will mess with your fuel/air ratio.
You're better off just keeping those few ounces installed.
It's not for weight reduction, it's because the motherfucker is rattling louder than a trunk with two 12's in it. I'd get some heat wrap for the area around it if I removed it. Or am I better off just doing some cosmetic work on it with a hammer so it clears the pipes more?
Underhood temps will rise. Hope you don't have a short ram.
I hopefully will in the future. I just don't want to deal with remapping the ECU.

shouldn't have to recalibrate anything. my SVT Focus has a K&N short ram on it and it works fine.

My friend with the same car tried to run a cold air intake and the air to fuel ratio was too much for the car to handle.
He did something wrong. The computer should recalibrate to a safe level for the motor to handle. I simple intake shouldn't do that to your motor.
