obd stands for on board diagnostics, when you clear your CEL codes, the module you hook up uses theses specifications/programs to indicate what is going on with your car.

obd0 is 91 and previous, obd1 is 92-95, obd2 is 96-00
gen1 is 96-98 gen2 is 99-00, kinda like with 6th gen civics. the front end changed in 99.
obd1 in civics uses one o2 sensor before the cat and thats it, and is generally lower tech than obd2. as time progresses technology gets smaller, and so did the ecu, circuit boards, and chip sizes. in obd2 the whole emissions craze came into full swing and cars were scrutinized more carefully. in obd2 in civics at least, 2 o2 sensors became the norm and a knock sensor was added that i know of. i have obd2 and had to fool my 2nd o2 sensor since im not running a cat.

With the exception of 99-00 Si's like Billy's car, all coupes and sedans sold in the states betweem 92-00 carried the code "EJ"
99-00 Si's were EM1

The tails are different too 94-97 had amber in them, both bumpers are different, headlights, wheels and subtle interior stuff like color and fabrics.

93.5-95.1 jdm tegs - same front end as here 94-97

SiR-G tegs - came with chrome housing jdm headlights and no lip

Type R tegs - came with black housing jdm headlights with a lip

98+ Type R tegs - came with black housing jdm headlight with a lip and option to upgrade to HID headlights. (there will be a circle on headlights around low beams)

but 180HP instead of 170HP (more compression and better ecu tuning for the better 100ish octane over there).... I forget the engine code.... B18C3 or B18C6??? I'm thinking that one one of those was a UKDM type R engine.
The Sir G's might have also be designated B18C just as the JDM Type R's but again, I'm not sure which is really odd for me.....
