From what I've gathered, experience compliments education. I don't think other fields are as lenient as IT. Like guiness said, if you can show that you're as good as the rest, you'll most likely get the job.

All I have is an associate's from Gwinnett Tech. My experience was the other portion that jumped off of my resume. good luck, dude.
