For what it's worth, I usually run 35% on the entire windshield, 15% on both front windows, and 5% or less on everything else and haven't been ticketed for tint in the ~4 years i've run it.

I believe the law on cars is...
- Windsheild: No tint except for a strip up top. Strip can't be any larger than 6" down including the corners. No solid colors.
- Front Windows: No lower than 32%.
- Rear windows: No lower than 25%
- Rear Window: As dark as you want.
