I say JDM D15B or D16Z6 would be your best option. NOW HOLD ON... lol im a DOHC guy, no doubt, but those motors are very affordable and very boostable. as soon as you get bored with them (and you will), D series turbo projects are cheap and yield big power gains. Ideally? get a Z6, and start saving for boost. That way you dont have to save forever for a swap and you have something to tide you over til you go the FI route.

i mean... for just a bit more torque, is it worth the money? i think i can get the swap from my friend for about 200-300 for the D15B but LS might run me 1000+. so is it really worth it?

    hmm yes & yes.

you are pretty much going in a more money wise situation unless you are planning to convert the auto2manual conversion unless you are keeping it how it is.... i wonder how it would be to have a automatic GSR .. hmm i've heard of these custom gears .. where it is automatic gears that you switch in yourself, but it has like 7-10 gears that you go through .. w/o clutches.. iono i might hav ebeen dreaming about this.. hahaa any1

Well I think that you might have to cut the B-Series from your list. I've talked it over with a friend who knows and loves his auto's, and he said that you will not be able to run a B-Series auto tranny in your car, because he has yet to find a company that make any tranny mounts for it......Soweeee

Well not exactly, what most people don't realize is revving the piss out of a motor is not where the power is, if you don't know the specs of the motor that is. Just because you can rev your motor pass 6 doesn't always make it good, you could be losing power by taking it past what it normally takes. Do more research and specs on you decision so that nothing bad happens to it
