evo ftw...... its not a choice, but if i were looking in that price range/engine style, id choose the evo to dominate all aspects of driving....
I would go with the Mazdaspeed 3, better interior, looks better IMO, and its not a Neon.
SRT-4's can be made quick real easily. Not so sure about the MS3, haven't seen or heard of any of them being heavily modded. Just like all turbo cars, im sure it can be made fast with upgraded turbo, and supporting mods.
I would test drive both if I was you.

The worst recorded tank of gas on my car was 21 mpg. The best was 33.2 mpg. I average 24-26 mpg driving around and on highways, I average 29-31 mpg. This is on a Mopar Stage 3 car untuned that has hit an 11.9 at the drag strip and has trapped up to 120 mph. This is also with no weight reduction on the car.Originally Posted by Turbo04

Whats the city only milege? I'm tooling around now average 32 in the city only, 40+ on the interstate with the mini. Not always going easy on her either. As you have said, my car is sending out "unburnt gas outta the tail" too. All the Mopar stage kits are set pig rich from the factory including the stage 3 kits. My AFR goes off the chart everytime I dyno. Yeah I could get a piggy back and tune the car for more power and get better fuel economy but I'm totally fine with the S3 kit as is.
2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4
MS3 cause it looks better, a get navi,h.id's from factory. The neon looks like a four door bug(insect) driving around. Even when they're drop they still have mad fist gap between the fenders.
I went to look at the new 3's at Rick Case about a year ago...they didn't have any yet and after looking at the Evo's I came across a SRT-4 they just pulled around on the lot...my friend has had 2 and I never felt slow with my old Tiburon till the day I went on a spirited drive with him...no comparison...I swore if I could find one with low miles I might get one...I did...23K and up for a Mazdaspeed 3...32K and up for an Evo...made my decision pretty easy for the NEON...17K...I like the 3's but they have little after market support and still are a station wagon...with mods even a SRT-4 can be made to look better...no regrets...peeps will always hate it because it is a Neon...whatever...

Mazdaspeed 3 for sure over the SRT-4. Much higher caliber of a car (no pun intended), nicer interior, better exterior. Overall better quality of construction. I have heard that tuning the MS3s is a ***** but thats just because its a new platform and people need time to break the OEM code.

ive owned 2 neons, and have been aroudn a few of friends neons... and i will agree, that quality is in the share of mazda.. neons are made to be low cost cars....From what i gathered the srt4 isnt any different, its the same chassis since 95.. im sure ethings have gotten better, but im sure alot of things are the same. motor/tranny are solid its been proven. it has alot of capability. but as far as stuff you wish it had...the MS3 does have. ive never owned a 3, but i have owned plenty of mazda built cars. all mazdaspeed cars have had a great aftermarket, its just not as known.
truthfully, the 2 arent really being compared, the real battle is between the caliber srt4, and the Ms3.. ms3 has already been marked higher than the neon srt4...
ms3. Im little biased because i own ms3 but when i bought this car, i wanted a car that had little bit of everything. I looked at wrx as well as civic si and gti. WRX was quick, i loved the styling and the sound of mean boxer engine but interior was lacking and to me, awd in georgia is not really needed.. more of bragging right to me. Civic was nice but little slower than what i wanted. Had a hard time between GTI and MS3 but after the test drive, i coudnt really care about about superior interior quality of GTI over ms3.
Overall, ms3 was quick, practical, and had decent creature comfort. For the money, you cant beat this car imo.
MS3 cause at the end of the day the SRT-4 is still a dodge FTL!!!!
stock for stock, MS3 has more hp and tq, better handling and better interior. i heard it torque steers like a mofo though.
if it were awd i'd consider trading in the subie for it, that interior really gets to me
I would rather have the mazdaspeed 3 too. I just really like those cars.
I pick ms3 coz it handle much better than srt4 which can only go fast on a straight way. BTW, the interior of the SRT4 is fxxx compare to ms3.
