If "The Power of Dreams" wasn't a registered trademark of Honda I'm sure Obama would be using it in his campaign because it's the EXACT same language!
For decades now Honda has been promising everyone the idealistic notion of their tiny little engines that will miraculously provide the power of much larger engines thanks to VTEC. But as anyone who is not a fanboy or sipping the VTEC kool-aid knows, it's really not true. Yeah VTEC engines are quick if you can keep them wound up above 6000rpm, but in normal driving they still have the same weakness and lack of torque of those smaller engines, and you have the feeling of "emptiness" whenever you step on it and it's not already wound up. The promise big with their high specific output (HP/L) but fail to deliver time and time again. As long as you like the subjective feel of the engine, or just the idealistic notion of what the engine represents while ignoring the reality that the engines still deliver far less overall power than a larger displacement engine with the same peak horsepower, hey buy (or vote) away! But then you ask, why are Honda people ALWAYS doing swaps to larger displacement engines? It's because Honda almost never gives you enough displacement in the first place!
I feel the same exact way about Honda VTECs (the above is my personal opinion only) as I do about Obama!
Obama is promising big. Hope. Change. Believe. Change we can believe in. Yeah right. This guy has never run a thing in his entire life and when faced with that challenge he says he's running his campaign and that's experience enough. But he's not even running his campaign. That's what campaign managers are for! He makes tons of empty promises, is micraculously going to solve every problem, and everybody in the world who hates us is suddenly going to love us again just by electing Obama. Then we hear from BIDEN of all people that the US will face a major international challenge within 6 months of an Obama administration because our enemies all know he's weak and will test him, Biden said they probably wouldn't get the response right, their poll numbers would plummet, and to remember the love for them that you have right now when this actually goes down. This is Obama's RUNNING MATE! You know the same guy that said in the primaries that Obama didn't have the experience necessary, that the presidency didn't lend itself to on the job training, and that he wasn't ready to lead? :laugh: Obama is an empty suit. He's spent half the time in the public offices that he's held using it as a stepping stone to get to the next higher office, which is why he has nothing in the way of any major legislative accomplishments.
A lot of people have an idealistic belief that Honda engines represent something they don't. As if it's magical and only Honda has the "intelligence" needed to make such high horsepower per liter engines. No. They're just far more willing to tradeoff low-end and mid-range torque than everybody else is to comprosmise their engines into a high-end torque only design, which is where the high horsepower numbers come from. VTEC, longer duration cams, larger ports (trades off low-end), shorter fatter intake manifolds (trades off low-end), smaller displacements (less torque in general) which allows higher RPMs (which you'll need to wind up to to actually get any power). There's no "MAGIC" in any engine Honda produces, and anybody who honestly believes that obviously doesn't understand much about engine design or engine design philosophy.
Obama is much the same. He's not magic. He's not the messiah. He's not the one. He's human just like everybody else, and flawed in various ways just like everybody else. It is the MEDIA, his sycophants, and his ardent kool-aid sipping supporters that prop him up, idolize him, worship him, and hide any and all unflattering moments or positions or gaffes to keep the worship going. He has no executive experience. He has no foreign policy experience. He has plenty of questionable associations. He's made more than a few radical left votes that are so far out of touch with the mainstream that most people would be horrified if they actually caught wind of it. That's what the media coverup is for, because they must elect him at all costs. Just like Honda tries to coverup the flaws of their own engines, and uses a lot of "creative language" in their comparisons with other engines to make it look like they're better when they're really not.
People have their hopes set so high with Obama that even if he's elected they're only going to be let down. Just like when you bury the throttle on a lot of stock Hondas, you're only let down when you expect so much power that it didn't seem to deliver and had bought into the hype.
Tons and tons of Honda owners have Obama stickers on their cars around here. Hey, he speaks their language!
